Holding my breath...

Hi everyone!
What joy to find this place! I was beginning to think I was losing my mind with all the things going on in my body, but I found this place and see that most of this stuff is common when a hysterectomy is needed....

I was originally scheduled for a TAH on 3/14/02, but due to my office changing insurances on 3/01/02, the new insurance said NO WAY! They have a 'pre-existing' clause that prevents me from having the surgery until after 6/23/02. SO, my GYN has tentatively scheduled another date for 7/11/02...*sigh*...so I wait...and suffer...and wait....and suffer....And we hold our breaths while awaiting the pre-approval process, yet again....

I stay so sick...nausea, fatigue, pain, bleeding....and I can't stand it!! I am (or was) active person, used to working 50 to 60 hours a week for a large medical practice-the administrative end of things. Just this week, my GYN reduced me to 20-25 hours a week....I just find it so hard to keep going!!!

I have to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to the creators of this place! I find myself coming here daily to read posts....and thanks to each and every one that posts. I'm finding that reading others experiences is giving me the strength to hang in there!

hugs,
Ria

Holding my breath...

Hi Ria!

Welcome to the site. I have been here about 1 month, and have become addicted! My surgery is scheduled for May 17. Seems a lifetime away.

That stinks about your insurance problem. I was worred about that too since my office switched companies in January. The new insurance told me since I always had insurance, I didn't have to follow the pre-existing rules.

The only advice I can give you is as a lady-in-waiting, since I haven't had my surgery yet. Stay Busy!!!! The first few weeks after my surgery was scheduled, I was obsessing about it night and day. I know that July seems far away to you now, but just focus on how great you will feel!!!

Take care!!

Holding my breath...

Hello ladies

I've been on this site a week or so now, and it's been a life-saver. Hearing that you're having the same fears, concerns, and feelings as just about everyone else makes the waiting so much easier to bear. Last week at this time I was hysterical, and thru this past Tuesday an emotional wreck. Sometime during the day Wednesday a calm came over me. I can only believe it's the prayers and well wishes from others at work, and it's working! I know I've been praying more lately, and less for myself and more for all my new sisters. I hope they're all being helped as well, and now you are included, too!

Still holding my breath...

Hi Ladies!

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words! How wonderful that we can share our experiences and give each other strength to get thru our individual ordeals....

OH what a week it's been....I spent over an hour on the phone with BC/BS (my lousy insurance) on Monday because they told my GYN that I am not eligible for the surgery until after 7/23/02....ooooooh...I was livid!! My pre-existing waiting period ends on 6/23/02! After I finally got the insurance company to understand this, they almost refused to send this to me in writing....needless to say I convinced the lady otherwise
So I guess time will tell if I get the required letter from them....and if I have to call them again...well....somebody's head is gonna roll!!!! How senseless it is for INSURANCE Companies to tell DOCTORS how and when to treat their patients!!!

OK...climbing down off my soapbox now
hugs,
Ria
