Pill or Patch
I just came from my pre-op with my doctor. My surgery is tomorrow (April 30). I will be having a complete hysterectomy. Like most of you I am scared, but I know the results will be worth it. My question is more about a "PILL" or a "Patch". My doctor told me that I would have a patch when I came out of surgery. I can decide later if I wanted to continue on the patch or switch to pills. Do any of you have any experience or wisdom to share about both of these options?

I also, had the same thoughts as you did. Right after surgery my doctor put me on the patch....When it was time to be release he told my that I would stay on the patch. And, I'm hear to tell you, so glad that he gave me the patch...put it on and forget about it!!!
It's been working ever since, (my surgery was in Jan 02),now I'm still on the patch but also on cenestin (pill) and sometimes I do forget to take it....
So, I love being on the patch!!!!

Patch for me
I was put on the patch the night of my surgery (2/28/02). We have changed the dose once. I love my patch. I change it once a week. I feel good with it. I hope that this feeling last.
Good luck with your decision and surgery and see you on the other side.

Pill or Patch
And, just for a different opinion :-)
I had a patch put on in recovery. It drove me crazy within a week, and I ripped it off. I take other pills, anyway, so preferred that option. You'll find out when you have the patch if you want to continue with it or change. No emergency about making a choice.
Cheers,

Pill or Patch
Good luck to you tomorrow.
I started out on pills, premarin and got many headaches and hot flashes with it.
Doc changed me to the patch and oh my that was an experience.. got up one morning to find it on dh 's butt. That was to funny. But it ended up that I was allergic to the adhesive on it.
So now I am on a gel, it is estrogel, its bioidentical.. and I love it. The bottle is mettered dose so no measureing, I just put one pump on each arm in the AM when I am getting dressed. and forget it. I have not had any hotflashes at all since using the gel.
Just another opinion. Take care
