incision hurts and seems to be a darker red?

I am three weeks post op. I have been feeling great. My steris came off yesterday. Today my incision is very sensitive and hurts a little. It seems to be darker in color than before. I did do some shopping bu no lifting today. The weather is dreary and rainy around here, which may be contributing some. Anyone else feel/see a change like this? Maybe I'm just over sensitive today.

Hi There!

Well, I have had the day after the steri-strips blues. Don't get me wrong my incision looks great but you get a full view of the incision after the steri-strips come off. I also had a reaction to the adhesive. The pulling off of the steri-strips irritates your skin and the healing incision. Just hang in there it gets better. I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow and looked in the mirror on Sunday and realized my incision has shrunk about 2 inches from its original size WOO HOO!. My swelling has gone down. Good luck!

Amy,
Thank you so much. I was worried I did something wrong or pulled too much.

incision hurts and seems to be a darker red?

I didn't have the steri strips, I had staples. But I noticed that sometimes my incision looked a darker red and it scared me too. It seemed to happen after I was on my feet alot and did more than I was used to doing. I don't think it is anything to worry about. Just use that as an excuse to rest more. It will go away.
