Anti-depressants

Just a question......
Did any of you need to stop you meds like Zoloft before your surgery? My regular doc said I didnt need to stop the Zoloft because it wouldnt interfere with the surgery. What do I do about it while in the hospital? Is it ok to leave it at home and resume taking it when I get back home? I just dont think I want to hassle with the castle employees with my own meds, ya know?

I am gonna ask about this when I go for my pre-op appointment...of course. wanted your opinion.

Meds

Maria I also take Zolft plus another med. I spoke to my surgeon and the anesthesiologist and the nurse in the pre-op room and they all said it was ok to take meds the day of the surgery but its best to check with your docs. My hospital would not allow me to bring my meds in so I had to let my surgeon know what I take so he could prescribe them for me whil in the hospital. This is also true of hypertension meds. Best of luck with your surgery. This web site has been a ged send for me. lucylucy

Anti-depressants

Maria - I take anti-depressants plus another med and my doctor wanted me to continue the med while in the hospital. I took my own med in and took them myself. Much easier this way. I recommend taking it if you can b/c all the fluctuations of your hormones after the surgery could benefit from the continued med. Best wishes!

Anti-depressants

My doctor told me to bring any meds I take daily with me to the hospital. Also, some anti-depressants cannot just be stopped "cold turkey". Be sure and ask your doctor.

zoloft

Hi Maria,
I took my Zoloft with me to the hospital. I didn't take it the day of surgery, but my Doctor even had it prescribed for me afterwards. I am now on hrt and seem to be tolerating it just fine also. Good luck, Roni

meds

Thank you all for your responses....I love this site and have told my doc about it cuz he wondered how I knew some terminology and details to ask about. He did say it was ok to take my Zoloft the day of surgery and he would get some for me while in the castle. I have to go talk to the "A" man in a few days and get the bowel prep stuff.
You ladies are wonderful! Thank you for being here.
I am looking forward in 17 days to making it to the other side.
Today after the pre-op I went shopping with my sister and got a brand new pj set and robe. I want to look more decent than my regular sweats while I recuperate. lol
Best wishes everyone!
