TIP OF THE WEEK--avoiding allergies?

This is from a little study, "Seasonal Allergic Rhinoconjunctivitis and Fatty Acid Intake: A Cross-Sectional Study in Japan"

They gave a questionnaire to over 1,000 women in Japan and asked them a lot of things about what they did and what their symptoms are.

What they found was that women who avoided polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega 6's) had far fewer allergy symptoms. People who were getting omega 3's (fish) and monounsaturated fats (like olive oil) didn't correlate with allergy symptoms.

So, if this study is right, and if you're using your allergies as an excuse not to exercise, avoid vegetable oils, corn oils, prepared foods, margarine, and hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Anything with transfats. And your allergy symptoms should improve.
