i had a scary experience yesterday. i had a panic/anxiety attack and thought i was about to have a stroke or heart attack! this happened after my fouth dose of my new hrt, but i don't know if it was related. i just felt tremendous pressure on my sternum, bp shot up to 155/105, could feel my pulse racing in my neck and head. i also started having these wild thoughts of hurting myself. they almost made me go to the psych unit, but thank god, the tests all came back normal and the psychiatrist( a woman ) saw me have several hot flashes and intense sweats and heard all about my hrt woes and thinks it's all hormonal. she gave me the name of her gyn. also said she saw her mom go thru this very same thing. anyway, i will call this doc asap. i think i'm going to stay away for a bit, but i'll let you all know how i'm doing now and then. thanks for all the support you've given me. julie

(((Julie))), I am so sorry you had such an awful experience. I know you said you would stay away, but please do check in some or I will worry about you. You have been through so much with your hormones. There has just got to be an answer for you. I will be thinking about you. Please let us know how you are doing.

Julie,

Yes, drop a note to let us know how you are doing. Maybe the psychiatrist can call the gyn and get you in fast -- You've been suffering soooo much

Julie, i just wanted to pop in and say i am so sorry. I have been there, went to er once with exact same thing you are describing. It is so scary. They put me on a heart monitor and my heart was skipping beats all over the place--monitor was going crazy... I couldn't figure out where i was and what was going on. I kept trying to get out of the bed and crawl around on the floor cuz my brain was in such a panic. Blood pressure went really high. IV valium slowly brought me back to reality--then i was embarrassed. Then had three at home, but dh got me thru them with help of meds. He told me he wished he had a dart gun so he could just dart me w/tranquilizer. :-) One time it happened in front of son (23 yrs old), and i was in the back yard curled up in a ball screaming. It seemed as if sounds and lights were sending my brain into overload. I said all that to say, you will be all right and it is hormones.. It is not you and it is not your fault. It will not be this way forever. It hurts so bad and is so scary and you can feel a loss of your own importance and value. But the truth is your a great woman with a hormone/chemical imbalance going on. And time, and working thru your hrt your body & mind SLOWLY recover.

Bless your heart, i wish i could give you a big hug and let you see into the future, you will be ok. It may take some time but you will get better and be well again. Until then take all the time you need to rest, take care of yourself and keep yourself calm. Try taking one day at a time, and don't loose hope. Be sure and pop in once in awhile/on your good days and say hi. I did the same thing for quite awhile just pulled back, and really brought my life down to a snails pace and with my docs help walked thru this one step at a time. Again, i wish you the very best and don't loose heart/your gonna be ok, our hyster friend. When they take your ovaries for some of us it is just an entire reconstruction of our whole chemical/hormonal makeup. And it takes time for our bodies to adjust to the upheaval. Hrt is nothing like our own bodies so perfectly orchrestrated (sp). But it does eventually except it and work with its new structure. I am trying to think of the words to give you comfort, but i guess i will just leave you with: Your not alone, you will get thru this, its not your fault, and WE CARE... With a heart full of understanding, take care of yourself, janet

thank you all!

hello! i just wanted to check in and let you know that i'm feeling so much better! i am back on tri-est and progesterone as well as celexa. although i still have hot flashes, swelling, numb tongue, sweating and insomnia, i am able to cope. not sure if it's the hrt or celexa that seems to be helping me hang on, though. boy, i hate the thought of navigating this jungle for the next twenty years until my brain tells me it's no longer needing these hormones. wishing you all much peace and luck in finding your way outta here! julie
