Vagifem verses Estring and Vaginitis

I just wanted to share some personal experience with all my fellow sufferers of vaginitis.

You may recall that I have gone through a lengthy trial of constant vaginal irritation. I was treated for many things along the way, including strept of both myself and DH.

My doctor had tried changing me to the Estring from Vagifem, thinking that a daily delivery might be a better solution. I had a hard time understanding how that might work since from what I knew the Vagifem was actually stronger than the Estring.

Upon completion of the antibiotics for strept, we resumed our sex life to find that for once I had no irritation. I thought maybe it was the strept that had been a problem so I took the Estring out and went back to my Vagifem. Well guess what? After being back on the Vagifem for a few days, I had intercourse and within an hour I was burning and itching again. My husband said "Put that String thing back in!". I did exactly that and in 12 hours the burning had eased off.

So I guess the Estring was what I needed. Funny, I would never have thought so. It just goes to show that this whole hormone thing is very unpredictable and you never just know how your body will respond to what.

I wanted to let everyone know this to encourage you not to give up when hormones are being changed around. Sometimes what you think won't work just may be what you need. It has taken me since October to get to this point.

Also if any of you have questions regarding Vagifem or Estring as a means of vaginal estrogen replacement, I will be glad to answer them. I was on the Vagifem 3 mos and have been on the Estring all total a month now. I liked them each for their own reasons and would highly recommend either, depending on which one works for you.

And now, I hope this is the close of this chapter in my journey!

Vagifem verses Estring and Vaginitis

Angie that is great news for you and hubby Ya know i tried the Estring and i started having mild cramping, which turned to contractions until i pushed that thing right out. And every time i tried to use it i would do the same thing. My body refused to let that thing stay in there My doc. just shook his head, and told me i just had to make everything difficult So i have to stick with vagifem. But, i am glad you found the answer for you, vaginal dryness and all it represents is no fun. Another vine chopped down for Angie
