TAH 3/6, Incision Herniated, New Surg 7/6...Need Advice!

I'm so upset! I had a TAH on 3/6 with a wonderful uneventful recovery. I didn't have any of the real problems most of the gals here have. I took it easy and had a great 2 wk and 6 wk check up. Now about 4 wks ago I started having pain in my lower left side and my incision started hurting again, which it hadn't for weeks. I couldn't stand or walk for more than 15 minutes without pain. I finally broke down and went to the Dr. last week. Part of my incision has herniated and now they have to re-open my incision and re-stitch the underlying fascia and ligaments. They will probably also add some mesh to reinforce it. Here I go again with another 6+ wks of recovery. This time I don't have the help I had the first time around. With a 2 yr old at home, no lifting isn't really an option when I'm all she has all day long. I was so proud of myself doing so well the first time around, I'm afraid I won't be able to do so well this time. I have been weepy for the last month or so and the Dr. wanted to put me on Prozac for that, but I'm reluctant. This new surgery isn't going to do anything for my weepy's thats for sure. The Dr. said this is common in women after abdominal surgery because the wall is weakened from pregnancy, surgeries etc. I never heard about this before, has anyone here had to have this done? I would really like to hear from anyone who has, with any advice they can offer. This is my 3rd surgery in 6 months and in between my house was flooded and had to be completely remodeled. I HATE this new millenium!!! To make matters worse the flooring in 5 rooms is going to have to be ripped up and redone while I'm recovering. The new flooring they put down all has problems/defects. So rest isn't going to be possible either! Does anyone want to trade lives for a
while? I will throw in one great hubby (puts up with all this and still smiles and says loves me!), a 7 yr old boy and an almost 2 yr old girl. Kids are good at "bugging" each other and making lots of messes. Any takers?? LOL! Help! I think I'm drowning and no one is around to throw me a life
preserver!

Marianne, I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time. I haven't had this happen so I can't be of much help, wish I could help though. I know life really gets tough sometimes, try not to let it wear you down, I know it's hard not to.
Hope everything works out better this time. Let us know how you are doing. Sending all the best wishes and good luck your way! Fay

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this ordeal again! Especially in such a short time. I had to have 3 minor surgeries once within weeks of each other. I understand your stress! I was so afraid of being put to sleep again! It does sound like you still have a little of your sense of humor & a great family! May God keep watch over you & yours. HUGS!!!!

Oh, Im so sorry what you are going thru. I just had more surgery 2 weeks ago to remove my Right tube, scar tissue & fix a herniated area. It was a breeze compared to my hyst. I had it laproscopic. 3 incisions (biggest being 1"- smallest 1/3") I hope you can recover as easy as I did... can they possibly review your case & have it laproscopic surgery? My Dr. wasnt sure he was going to be able to start/complete it laproscopically but he did!! Yipee!! good luck.. My prayers are with you!!

Cindee, What were your symptoms..I see the Doc again tomorrow for a pain in my right side. Need all the info I can get. He thinks it's an undisolved stitch..I'm not so sure. Please reply here or email me at bdflorax@aol.com
Thanks.

Marianne, God bless you! It is tough looking at another surgery but for me..I'm still better off than I was before my hyst. I feel so much better..more alive! But then again, I didn't really have a choice..it was a hyst or a blood tranfusion..and then probably a hyst. Hope things go well for you..hang in there kid..we're rooting for you!

In response to Babs:

We didnt even suspect a hernia prior to surgery. I had excrutiating pain in my sight side. So bad it would go down my leg. I had a prolapsed tube (my right fallopium tube fell thru my vaginal cuff, & the Dr cut some of it off thinking it was granular tissue) so this was causing me so much pain I couldnt decifer between the hernia, the tube or the adhesions/scar tissue I had... When I went into surg they found the hernia, fixed it, removed the rest of my tube & cleaned up the scar/adhesions... It was a long surgery but thankfully completed it all w/laproscopic procedure...I think though, that most of the pain I felt was from my Tube???
