Menopausal Bleeding/Spotting

Is bleeding/spotting a symptom of menopause? I have been bleeding/spotting for five weeks now. My blood work from two weeks ago shows I was menopausal. Both my gyn. and GP says it is coming from the uterus but they don't have an answer why other than radiation damage (3 months post radiation). My gyn. asked if I wanted to be on HRT and perhaps that will stop the bleeding. Perhaps, she says. I do not want to be on HRT. I saw my oncologist today and he cannot tell me why until he sees the MRI which I have an appt. as soon as they can schedule it. All three tell me I will not bleed to death. The bleeding/spotting does not soak up a pad, but it has been FIVE WEEKS!

Menopausal Bleeding/Spotting

Hi Dragon Lady,

s to you. I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. I am sorry I cannot give you any definite answers but wanted to come along and send some s.

I have heard that some bleeding/spotting may occur in menopause. I was in perimenopause until my TAH/BSO on 4/9. That through me into surgical menopause.

I am sorry to hear of the cancer. There is another site here called Cancer Concerns that is wonderful. Please post there as well. I had breast cancer in Dec. 2001. My MD, Gyn and Oncologist have ruled out any form of HRT for me as well as any herbs that have phytoestrogens or mimic estrogen. This is due to my history. Everyone is different, though, so I would check with your Gyn and Oncologist and MD to see what they say. Many ladies choose to go the no HRT way just by choice.

Please consult your doctors. I know others will be along to offer some more suggestions and prayers.

Good Luck, Sharon

Menopausal Bleeding/Spotting

Hi Dragon Lady~

You say your hyst was unsuccessful. Just wondering why. I was going to suggest that you ask your Dr. for a D and C, but maybe if your hyst was not successful this may not be possible. I had uterine cancer and it was detected in a D and C. I bled for 7 months, so, in my opinion, I would continue with whatever is recommended by your Dr.s. If you are seeing an oncologist I am sure a close watch will be followed.

Please try not to worry or stress yourself out. You are in good hands and you will soon have your answers. The Cancer Concerns Board is excellent and you will find alot of support there, also.
