I have a head cold and now back pain

I came down with a nasty head cold on Thursday. I have been sneezing and coughing like crazy all weekend. This morning I got up with a killer back ache. It feels like a pulled muscle with some really weird sensations similar to when your foot falls asleep. My stomach is also very sore and swollen. I am 7 weeks post-op and have not had any complications. Is it possible I have done some damage to the internal stitches by coughing and sneezing so much? I had a coughing spell during the night that woke up everyone else in the house and I had difficulty catching my breath from it. I am taking some otc cold medicine which does not seem to be helping much. I do have an appt. with dr. tomorrow because I am having trouble sitting at work due to bladder pressure. I am just looking forward to feeling good again. Anytime soon would be nice. I thought I was doing really well until I went back to work last week and now I have this cold. Any would be appreciated.

Everyone here is an . I would not have made it this far without this support. Thank you.

I have a head cold and now back pain

Hi Judy, I'm glad you are going to see the doctor tomorrow. At 7 weeks post op, I'm not sure you could really do any damage to the internal sutures from coughing, but seeing the doctor will help to rule that out for sure. I found I used my back muscles more and had several bouts of back spasms. I over compensated, using my back muscles instead of my stomach muscles, and really had some soreness. I used the heating pad on my back and it helped a lot. Make sure to let the doctor know everything, even if your back is feeling better when you go. That way any possibilities can be checked out. Take care, and try not to worry. Let us know what the doctor says.

possible bladder/kidney infection

I went to my dr. today due to bladder pressure when I sit. My back has also been hurting and now my dr. thinks I have a bladder/kidney infection. He put me on antibotics just in case and scheduled a CAT scan for dull ache that does not go away near my left ovary. I am hoping it is not adhesions at this point. My blood pressure has been all over the place since surgery and now we have to watch that also. Because of hyst, it is hard to say if back pain is due to recovery or infection. Have not had any fever or pain when peeing or bm other than some discomfort with bm that has been there since surgery. Also passing gas has been a real problem. Dr. thinks that will resolve itself in time. Drinking soda in any amount is not a good thing and I am a heavy soda drinker (diet sprite only) so this has been hard for me. My dh also had to go to dr. yesterday for pain in his back. His dr. thinks dh may have a kidney infection in the left kidney or the kidney has shut down altogether. He had ultrasound done but has not received any results yet. Dr. put him on antibotics just in case of infection. I am curious if we may be sharing this infection with each other.

Take care and s to all.
