pinched nerve update

I have read the posts on pinched nerve in the groin. I had surgery on May 1 (TAH & 1 ovary removed) and have been suffering pain from the pinched nerve for the last 3 weeks. What have been your experiences? Has anyone found a way to speed the recovery or have less pain? I find that I cannot sit in a chair for very long--up to 30 minutes only and I am most comfortable when I recline.
I am on my last dose of pain pills. My OB/GYN said that if I continued to have pain from the pinched nerve that I need to go to my primary care physician for more pain pills. What have been your experiences? Should I just "tough it out" on ibuprophen or will the dr. be able to help me?
Did anyone find that walking more (or less) was helpful?
Thanks
Kim

pinched nerve update

(((Kim)))) I'm so sorry you're having this problem. I didn't experience it myself, but I really would not opt for the "tough-it-out" option: why suffer if your pain can be relieved? Plus, it could be something that needs to get looked into and you wouldn't want to have long-term complications because of this, now would you?

Sending healing s your way: it will get better.

Please keep us posted.

pinched nerve in groin

I have one (pinched nerve in the groin) also, dr said to wait until I was 6 months post op, if it was not considerably better he would send me to the "pain clinic" for injections.. Maybe its the idea of having shots in the groin, but it does seem to have gotten better!! Good luck!!

pinched nerve update

Kim,

Don't tough this out. And taking pain pills should not be the only answer. I would not wait around when it comes to nerves. The longer a nerve is damaged the worse. Why not go to a neurologist and trace the damage? Perhaps it can be released from its pinched location. If this is due to the surgery then you need to follow up immediately. Nerve pain is the worst!
I wish you well,

pinched nerve update

Here I am again. When it comes to nerve pain I get crazy. My dh had a 4 1/2 hr back surgery and long story short he learned that walking only made the surrounding tissue swell and that tightened the pressure on the nerve. Once all swelling is gone then he built up gradually with very short walks around the house. Down flat or standing up right were the only two positions he could take for awhile.

He was on muscle relaxers and pain meds and a steriod after surgery. We tried both heat and cold and cold felt best. I purchased a very expensive flat but supple bag that is always in the freezer. It has that soft liquid inside. I bought it at physical therapy office. Came in two sizes. Please talk with a specialist before trying much. I hope you get some relief and help.
