Officially a LIW now !!
Finally I am on the waiting list for my TAH/BSO it will be in the next 4 - 9 months, I hope it is a quick 4 -9 months. I took that many questions with me today the doctor wants to book a full morning with me to go through all my questions. I think he thinks I am nuts as I was crying and DH had to do most of the talking. I don't know what I would do without him he is truly amazing.
Daft question, how big approx will the scar be, forgot to ask and can't find the answer.
I am so greatful to all of you for this site. Thanks so much all of you.

Officially a LIW now !!
Hiya Victoria, my fellow Countrygirl!
(I was born and raised in England, moved to the US in 97)
Congratulations on finally getting an answer - I got my surgery date today, too, so I'm now too an official Lady-in-waiting!
My doctor said the scar would approximately 6 to 7 inches, possible a little longer. It really depends a lot on how you're built, too - I'm a Goddess-sized girly, and obviously there's more of me to cut than if I were a waif!
Anyway - I'm very happy that you're finally going to see an end to your discomfort.
Keep smiling
Tess

Hi Victoria,
My bikini-cut scar (still a healing incision at this point, actually) is exactly 7 1/2 inches. (I just measured it - see how bored I am already?) Of course, I'm a big girl too, so I guess that does make a difference, plus my uterus ended up being larger than the doctor thought it would be, so he had a little trouble getting it out.
I'm wondering if a verticle incision would have been smaller. Wouldn't have mattered to me which way he cut, since I have no intention of stuffing myself in a bikini anytime in the next century anyway. (There's a hilarious post on the Friends Without Faces board about swim suits. Here's the link: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...threadid=62480 Warning though if you're freshly post-op, it will make you laugh, so bring your tummy pillow along before you read it.)
Best wishes on your surgery. I know the waiting is the hardest part. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
 s,
Lisa
