pre op health

I just wanted to know what exercise and diet would be best to follow before my surgery in October...I would appreciate any input..Thanks

Hi There!

The only thing I can offer is to keep yourself healthy, avoiding catching colds or other maladies.... which means eat healthy, exercise (walking, bicycling, whatever you are inclined to do), get your quota of rest/sleep, etc. I might not go on a fad diet, as depriving your body of nutrients all of a sudden like that can bring your resistence down and cause the body to be more susceptible to germs and colds and the like.

Stick around here, too; by the time October rolls around, you will be very well-prepared!

A wise princess!

How smart you are to begin preparing now I would suggest not chaning your routine from where you are not. However, if you have no routine now, I would encourage you to begin walking and drinking lots of water Now is not the time to begin something new...but a simple basic plan will help you feel better going into surgery. And I agree....stay with this website. It is the best thing I have ever found and you will get lots of good advice from sisters who have been there!

Also, if you have to have a bowel prep, they will put you on clear liquids for a day or two before. I chose to eat lightly, not a lot of meat or other hard-to-digest stuff and ate mostly fruit and vegetables with soy protein for the week before that.
