How long does a "general" stay in your system?

Hi ladies,
Nice to be on this side of the board! I was wondering if anyone had any info on how long a general stays in the body following surgery. I have tried to research this one my own but can find NOTHING about how long it hangs around in your system. The reason I ask is because during surgery, my BP bottomed out. Recovery room was rough. No pain meds until my BP stabilized. Weird thing is that up until surgery, I took a pill twice a day to keep BP under control. Haven't had to take meds for that since. In fact, sometimes my pressure is TOO low as I get very cold and tired. Any thoughts?
Thanks! I am 12 days post-op.

I don't have any answers for you, but I am the same. I was on BP meds prior to surgery, and on a good day now without any medication, my blood pressure gets up to 100 on the top. It did this the last time I had surgery and it took several weeks before my BP was back to it's abnormal normal. I still check it every day, but it is obviously not to the point where I want to take my BP meds yet.

Here's hoping it stays down a bit from what it was before surgery!

Welcome to Post op

My anesthesiologist told me one of the meds he used would last for about 2 weeks in my system. Yours may have used other meds. Good question to ask the dr. I think.
