Prometrium too short-acting?

I saw one of the pharmacists wrote in a thread somewhere about Prometrium's effects only being 3 hours long. Anyone have any experience with this? Maybe it explains why I wake up like clockwork around 2 or 3 a.m., having taken it around 11 p.m.

I can't do any kind of systemic estrogen, so I'm relying on this for my HRT. So far, I have to admit, I've had few symptoms, but if the bio-effect of this is only 3 hrs, it's not going to do me much good...

This is the only bio-identical progesterone my insurance company will pay for, and although in L.A. there are plenty of compounding pharmacies, I'm not sure we could afford the cream on top of DD's and my other prescriptions.

Any professional or personal opinions or experience out there?

Thanks.

Here's Lauren's answer (in this thread) on prometrium

Two thoughts -

How about dividing your prometrium into 2 doses - or checking out the price of compounded progeterone. It might not be as expensive as you think

Audrey,
You may also want to check with your insurance company. Many insurance companies do cover the compounded hormones. I had to go thru some red tape initially but my insurance does cover the compounded hormones.
