hemorrhage

I had TAH last Wednesday, a couple of hours after surgery I started hemorrhaging, back to surgery I went. I now have a 10 inch incision rather then 4. I actually am feeling well, getting around ok, just exhausted all the time. I was given 4 units of blood after the second sugrery, could that be the reason for the fatigue?
How many units of blood does a woman have to begin with?
Hope someone can answer my questions! Thanks, Gunny

I'm pretty sure there are about 12 in your whole body, so you've had about 1/3 of your blood volume replaced. Wow.

Plus, this is MAJOR surgery even without the hemorrhage. Most women are exhausted off and on (more on than off) for many weeks afterwards. I felt great the first week, wiped out weeks 1 1/2 to 3 1/2, okay 4-6, tired 6-8, okay again, and suddenly DEEPLY exhausted around weeks 10-12 or so. Pamper yourself and get as much rest as you can.
