Here are some of my reasons...

** Why I Want To Lose Weight & Be Healthier**

1) Prevent cancer from re-occuring
2) Prevent heart disease
3) Prevent Diabetes
4) Prevent high blood pressure
5) To have more energy
6) Look better physically (no fat rolls)
7) Have nicer clothes (more fashionable)
8) Feel more comfortable physically
9) Have better endurance
10) Not feel embarrassed at food choices in a restaurant/grocery store situation
11) Not feel self conscious when meeting new people, or someone haven't seen for a while.
12) Not feel self conscious when shopping in fashion plus section
13) Not feel funny tying my shoe in public place (bending over is not comfy)
14) Feel more confident
15) Feel pretty
16) Feel sexy
17) I want to be here to see DS grow into an old man
18) I want to be here to spoil grandchildren someday
19) I want to sit on DH lap and not worry about squishing him
20) I want to fit comfortably in those tiny seats at many movie theaters
21) I want to fit comfortably in amusement ride seats
22) I want to fit comfortably in booth at restaurant
23) I want to walk and not have my thighs rub together
24) I want to wear shorts and not feel funny
25) I want to wear a swimsuit/go swimming in a public place and not feel totally mortified

I know some of these reasons are pretty vain but they are none the less some of my reasons. I have many more but thougth this was enough of bearing my soul for now.

*Why* Do You Want To Lose Weight??

Why do I want to loose weight? Well, I'll be honest: the first reason was to improve my appearance and to be able to wear nice clothes and look good in them.

However, there were many, much more important, other reasons:

The main one is that I am fast approaching menopause: I'm 45 but had my hyst at 44. Even though I kept my ovaries, odds are that menopause will set in about 5 years earlier than it would have should I have not needed this surgery. Therefore, I figure that I have about 2 or 3 years to go, before menopause.

I know that, with menopause, the risks of Cardio-vascular disease increase dramatically, and I'm at risk for both: both of my mother's parents died of a stroke, my maternal grand-mother survived a major stroke at the age of 70 and my dad, his father, his uncle, his sister and his cousins all had heart disease. My dad had a heart transplant in 1990. I know that being in an healthy weight range reduces the risks of CVD.

I also know that the risk of Diabetis and Breast cancer are reduced when you are at a healthy weight. Since diabetis and breast cancer are also common in my familly, I figure I am wise to reduce my weight.

I am also concerned because I had my children late in life (they're 11 and 6 1/2) and I want to make sure that I am there for them for as long as possible.

I also wanted to increase my energy level and loosing weight has done that.

So, those are all my reasons for loosing weight.

Why do I want to lose weight?

I sat here and thought about this -- -- and I think in my case it really boils down to this...........

almost everyone in my family was heavy and had health problems because of it...........I don't want to follow that route.

*Why* Do You Want To Lose Weight??

Geeeeezee Dawn..... Your list was wonderful. So many good reason to lose weight!

I will be honest here. I say it is because I want to be healthy... I think the real reason is pretty vain. I want to be able to buy regualr size clothes. NO MORE PLUS SIZES, is a goal and a major reason I want to lose weight. Be able to buy anything and have it fit.

*Why* Do You Want To Lose Weight??

I need to lose weight because of my families heart attack history and high cholestrol and this hystertomy has my body going crazy.
I am not where I used to be but not where I want either. And I would like to feel good in my clothes as well as have so much energy that I could wear out my grandchildren and my hubby.
Time iswhat it is going to take.

*Why* Do You Want To Lose Weight??

...for all of the above reasons and because losing even one darn pound seems insurmountable. There's gotta be a way to beat this. I go to the gym and I eat right, day after day after day after day. I watch the calories given to me by Dietpower get less and less because the weight stays the same. I have banked this week 1184 calories because of the exercise! Today Dietpower has given me 1181 calories. Impossible!! I work out (cardio/strength) two hours 5 to 7 times a week, varied. Working out is part of my life now. I try not to think of the weight and the tight clothes. I try not to let myself get discouraged and give up. But, it has been months since I've gone back to exercise.

*Why* Do You Want To Lose Weight??

I don't want to suffer the same fate as my parents.. My dad has had 2 heartattacks, 3 stents, and a pacemaker put in. His kidneys are shot, and he is on dialysis, he is legally blind and has trouble with his legs..due to diabetes.. My Mom has high blood pressure, diabetes, problem with her legs due to diabetes..... and I don't want to end up like that..

My reason for losing weight is 6'9" of the sweetest southern gentleman you can imagine. One who 10 years ago I never imagined knowing, and now I can't imagine not knowing him. He's 10 years younger than me, and we have a promise to sit in our rockers on the porch when we're old and gray.

All the other stuff becomes a bonus item to me, I intend to keep my promise to him and to myself. Being more fit, and making healthier (not just in food) choices are my path to my promise. I always keep a promise!

Why do I want to loose weight?

I have always been very slender and never had trouble with weight until the last 3 yrs when I have put on about 15 extra pounds. It doesn't sound like a lot, BUT I do notice it, especially the swelly belly. Will the swelly belly EVER leave? I just feel better physically and mentally when I am at my ideal weight. I am 47 and hopefully it's not too late to get back in shape. I had my total vaginal hyst on April 10th and am now getting back to walking three miles a day. I am exhausted when I am done, but it's a good exhaustion. I am also drinking lots and lots AND lots of water (running to the bathroom is considered exercise isn't it?). I want to be able to buy smaller clothes when I go back to work in August as a school secretary.
