Saturday, June 15th

Hi Everyone!

If I remember right there were posts by a few ladies saying it was easier in the summer to stay OP. If so, I guess I'm the odd one. I'm finding it much harder to stay OP now. This past year I learned to really enjoy fresh vegetables, sweet potato, etc. I had no problem shopping for them every few days and then taking the time to cook them for dinner. This past couple of weeks I didn't want to shop OR take the time to cook them. I just wanted to grab something quick and get out of the kitchen. I also didn't want to turn on the oven. Tonight I did fish & chips take-out. Of course, the weather has affected my exercise program also....no formal this week either. I did so well getting at least 5 servings of produce.....now I'm down to 3 at most. What do you ladies do to eat "healthy" on these hot & humid days? ........other than green salads ( I enjoy a good salad, but not every day).

A couple of weeks ago my DS asked me to take their 2yo overnight on the 18th. Last Monday my DIL asked if I could take her on the 15th from about 3:30 until they picked her up after the wedding they were going to. I've figured out that my DS probably had the date wrong and he was hoping for overnight and she didn't have the nerve to ask me. I have a friendly bet going with my sister as to how it's going to play itself out. I'm betting they'll pick her up tonight....my sister says she'll be going to mass with me in the morning. I'll let you know.....

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone.

Cool - Saturday, June 15 Saturday, June 15

I'm getting brave and starting the day's post - it is Saturday here, just barely anyway!

Thank goodness Riverbend is over tomorrow night (actually, I guess that's tonight!) - it's wearing me out! Because of my sleep apnea and insomnia, it always takes me about 2 hours to wind down from anything and go to sleep, so here I am! Tonight was fun, though, we saw Lonestar. Somehow, my DH and I raised a nine-year-old country fan - DD has always listened to country on the radio and loved the concert(my oldest DD prefers funk and rap, and my DH and I are alternative rock/blues fans, so country is unique in our family!).

Good news - finally - I lost 3# at WW today! Woohoo! My tooth felt better today and the pre-vacation stress wasn't too bad. Hopefully, I'll be so busy the next 2 days doing laundry and packing that I won't have time to dwell on the driving.

Traci - do post your recipe, please. I love oatmeal cookies and my DD loves to help bake. Congrats on your weight loss - I feel I've worked so hard to lose 16 pounds and I am just in awe of you ladies that have lost 30, 40, 50 pounds. That is a major accomplishment!!!

To all the rest who post today - have a great weekend and thanks as always for your caring and support! I will check in from my mom's while I'm gone and keep in touch.

Hi everyone,
I have been MIA due to exam writing/marking/report writing. It is nearly the end of term for us here in Queensland - only one more week to go Yeah!! I'm looking forward to going to the gym every day (I have been managing 5 times per week).

I had my monthly weigh in and have lost another 4.2 kg (10 lb.) which makes a total of 42 lb since the hyster in March. People have been asking me about the 'diet', to tell the truth I haven't been 'dieting' at all - after all these years of being overweight, I know what to eat. I have also cut out refined carbos and have been drinking lots of water. I haven't been writing down what I have been eating as I am trying to focus on things other than food. Anyeway it certainly seems to be working - average of 2.2 lb per week.

During the holidays I will have more time to respond to you all individually. I do hope everyone is well and staying OP.

:

Diana

Hi all --
I don't know if I messed this up or not........was trying to merge Tamara's thread and Em's thread which is something I haven't tried before and it looks like I managed to do it,but I may have accidentally closed the post at the same time..........if so, SORRY and someone please start a new one for today and I won't try that again! then again maybe I was successful?

I will be SO GLAD when this kitchen business is over and done with.......hopefully we can put all appliances back where they belong this afternoon. I have not been OP all week, because we have been eating out so much. Last night I ended up with a small philly cheesesteak sub and macaroni and cheese. I've eaten more cheese in the past week than I've eaten in the last 2 months! We will be eating out a lot next week, but I usually manage to lose weight at fishing tournaments.........if I go fishing with the guys during the week we pack a light lunch to eat in the boat during the day and then we go out to dinner but usually pick restaurants where I have lots of options. And during the actual tournament itself.........next weekend.........I walk a few million miles. Of course it's supposed to be in the 90's!

Congrats Diana! 42 pounds is great! People ask me how I lost weight too, and I don't follow any specific program either. I go to the gym usually 5 days a week, and I figure the % of fat in food and don't eat much that is over 30% fat (well up til this week with all work being done in our kitchen!!) It works for me! I drink LOTS of water every day. I love to bake but I have been doing a lot of experimenting with lowfat or fat free baking. Which reminds me.........Traci...........hope you're gonna post that WW oatmeal cookie recipe!

Also congrats Dany for that size 10 swimsuit!!

Congrats Tamara on your weigh-in too!

Have a good OP weekend everyone. We're leaving early Monday morning and to Maryland and will be gone all next week.

Take care!
Ann

Smile - Saturday, June 15 Are You Ready For A Great OP Day??

Hi Everyone!!!!!

I did it!!
I made it OP all day yesterday......Yay!!!!!!!

I am all ready for another great OP day!! I am off to a good start with my water and have my meals planned for the day. I plan to do my walking tape as soon as I finish posting here.

I am considering ordering the DietPower and giving up the WW. I do like WW but however I am really doubting that I am following it correctly. I am using up my pts for each day but not always (OK mostly) using them for healthy foods as I am sure they are encouraged to be used for. I may just try the two together for a while and see how that goes too. Seems like a lot though, but maybe not after I get on to it more, we'll see.

EM~~ The hot/humid weather certainly affects me too!! When it's hot and humid then I don't want to even move.....it just zaps all my energy!!! Exercising is the farthest thing from my mind, and running the oven is *not* something I want to do either!!! Thats why I grill a lot in the summer! I am like you I like salad too but not everyday!!! Tuna/egg/chicken/ham salad made with low fat or light mayo isn't too bad for a light meal with some fresh fruit and raw veggies. I use different ways of serving them to break things up a bit like pita bread, grilled sourdough, on a bed of lettuce, etc. As for the exercising, well...... haven't figured that one out yet but did have that as a suggestion for chat discussion for last week an will plan to keep that on for next week too.
Can't wait to hear whether GD goes to mass in the morning with you or not.......that is tooo funny!!

Tamara~~ WoooHooo, congratulations on losing that 3 lbs. thats is really wonderful!!!! Have a great trip!!!

Diana~~ It's great to hear from you again!! Great job on the weight loss, that is really great!!!! Wowweeee 42 lbs since March, that is awesome!!!!!

Ann~~ You did good!! I know how you feel with your house being torn apart, mine is the same way right now. We have several projects going at the same time and none of them are even close to being completed....arghhhh!! Best of Luck at the tournament and have a safe trip!!!!

Well I need to go and pop in my tape before it gets any hotter b/c thn I won't do it!!!

Have A Wonderful OP Day!!!!!

~~WE CAN DO IT~~

Take Care, Dawn

Hi Ladies!

Well, it happened to me too. Tamara & I were posting at the same time....glad Ann came along to "get it together".

Dawn, I guess you know that DietPower isn't a specific diet and they advertise that it works well with any formal diet. Your point about healthy choices hits home, tho, as it was after I started using it that I became aware of the nutrients in the foods I'm eating. I do think it's a great program that can be used forever...not just for weight loss.

Diana....you've done wonderful and you've done it in the best way for long-term success. Congratulations!

Ann...thanks for doing the "fix". I do enjoy reading your posts and knowing that you're able to control your weight in a healthy manner.

It's only 56 here today and raining...has been for a couple of days now. The humidity bothers me more on days like this, because I can't run the AC to at least dry up the house.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Good Morning from Sopkane Washington... where summer FINALLY arrived.. whoo hooo!!

I had a Celebrate Summer party here last night, about 25 people including kids. Snow cones and margaritas were served and we had tons of fun.

Food choices are always a challenge at a party, but I served many low fat items and do not think I did to bad. Of course the margaritas I had without alcohol because I did not want to add those points!

So many people pulled me aside to tell me how proud they were of me and how good I look. One of the kids friends came to me to tell me I look so young and beautiful. God, I love that kid! Sure made it easier to watch the points last night!

Em, Dawn, Diana, Ann, Tamara, and all who post after me.. make today a great OP day.

Even though this weight loss is work, enjoy it. Life is short so celebrate every day of your loss. You are the BEST bunch of losers (winners) I have ever had the pleasure of knowing!

Take Care.... and CELEBRATE something wonderful today... YOU!!

Hi all
Sorry I missed you all yesterday, just a very busy day in all. I did do some baking and am proud to say that I only ate one cookie. And that for me is a major accomplishment.

I think I am finally coming back on track, maybe I shouldn't say that just yet today. Oh well its said now, I have been drinking my water and cleaned house, will get outside later when its cooled down after supper. It is so hot here again today, we are desperatly in need of rain. The entire province has a no burn bann on right now, not even campfires. It is just hot and dry everywhere. Its calling for rain on Monday, I hope we get some.

Ann~ Always great to hear from you. Size 10 congrats, don't think I could even remember that last time I wore a size 10. Hope you have a great trip and good luck fishing. DS went to a fishing derby today, he is 9.

Dawn & Michelle ~ So happy to hear you are back on track. Keep it up, we CAN do it.

Shirley~ Hope you have a safe holiday, and congratulations on your anniversary.

Dany~ Sounds like you are back on track as well. Keep it up you are doing great.

Em~ I hate cooking in the summer to. I tend to eat more salads in the summer than winter and especially when my own lettuce and stuff is ready for picking. Hope you have fun with you granddaughter.

Tamara~ We have a country loving 9 year old as well. Congrats on the loss of another 3 lbs. That is great. Hope you have a great holiday.

Diana~ Great to see you back again, Congrats 42lbs lost, that is awsome.

Traci~ You sound like you are in such great spirits today. That is great keep it up. I agree these are a great bunch of losers (winners) here, and so glad that I am a part of this group.

Must go get more water now. Take the raisin tea biscuits out of the oven. Find some low fat recipies for me.

Have a great day.

Denise
