I'm Home (long)
Hi ladies
Well I made it!! rincess:
I had to be at the hospital at 8 am. They called me back and I changed into my cap and gown, put me onto the gurney and off we went. I cried as I said my good byes to my family thats one of the hardest things for me. They took me to the holding area where the "A" man came and talked to me and listen to my heart and lungs while my nurse started my IV he slipped me something to relax. They wheeled me into O.R. where I got on the table. They began to wrap my legs up and I'm thinking ok I didn't want to remember this. The "A"man put the mask on my face where I took three deep breaths and was out. The dr came out an hour and half later and told my dh that I was doing good and was in recovery But told him he was surprised to find endo and adhesions that wasn't expected at all. He told him he left my ovaries didn't really want to but he rememberd how I wanted to try and save them. He told my dh there is a 1 in 4 chance he will have to go back and take them out. He said he scrapped out all the endo and adhesions didn't look like any cancer but would send every thing off to be checked. The next thing I remember was waking up in an elevator realizing I was alive (sigh) off to sleep again. They kept me on oxygen,iv,demerol pump, cath for the next 24 hours. DH said I did alot off hullisinations "sp?" which keeped them entertained. I don't remember any of that. The nursing staff wasn't much to speak for, they wouldn't do anything to help me and one was just down right rude. so needless to say I took the candie bag and gave it to my kids. Now the pain...I was lead to believe that this wouldn't be that bad boy what a lie. It was very painful I have 27 staples I have a cough that makes it feel like everything inside is being ripped out turning and getting out of bed is horrible... I have to hold my tummy to walk I can't use my pillow it just doesn't do the job. I had itching like crazy mixture of the all the meds and pain pump. I had no appetite. I drank more water than I have ever in my life. Gas pains didn't hit until I got home. I stayed 3 days. I should say its painful when you move if your laying still it was ok. When I got home I started running fever. I had to go back and be put on some antibotics. I am 4 days post op and still very sore if I could get rid of the cough I am sure it would be alot better. I am having troubles with moving my bowls I have used suppositories and softeners starting to go wheeewwww!! I go tues to get my staples out I hope I feel alot better by then. mentally I fill great I just know in a few weeks it will all be worth it no more pain no more periods!!
And waiting is hard. This was my experence I hope and wish you all the best. I am starting to see lite at the end of my tunnel.

bit of a rough ride in castle
Thanks for posting your stay details. So sorry to hear things didn't go as smoothly as they should. Have you thought about getting your lungs/chest checked and if no infection then a strong cough suppressant might be a good idea. Pholcodeine is very good. It could be your airways are irritated from tubes and the oxygen can dry out your air passages. If your cough feels like it originates from throat then try some lozenges. Sometimes the old remedy of breathing in some steam can settle spasms down. Hope you soon feel better and remember to take things very easy. Best wishes, Linda

Welcome Home, Princess Ezluvnz!!
So glad you're home from the castle! You make a lovely new !
Now, make sure you follow your princess training carefully: lots of , lots of water, take short walks, and get more rest. And no vacuuming, mowing the lawn, or bungee jumping.
I hope your cough goes away soon too. Be sure to do the deep breathing exercises as it is very important after surgery to prevent pneumonia.
Hugs and prayers for a speedy and uneventful recovery!
Lisa
