Surgery Date Changed

I was originally scheduled for June 11th, then they moved it to June 18th. When I went in to my pre-op I knew something was up when the nurse handed me a folder and asked me to read it before visiting with the doctor.....hold on...are you sitting down?....it was info on IVF!!!! I started to cry. So very insensitive! I am 31 and going in for a total hysterectomy. That was just the tip of the iceberg. You wouldn't believe me if I told you all the mistakes they made...wrong info 3 times, never did get pre-op instructions on hysterectomy...wrong lab tests ordered, etc. I cried for a week after this appointment because the nurse that was supposed to coordinate the scheduling of my ob, his assistant, a bowel guy, and my plastic surgeon managed to put everyone down for a different day and didn't have me down at all with the hospital!

Not to mention the fact that the doc wanted me to move my surgery out another week so another patient coudl have my date. He spent 20 mintues telling me how I, of all people, should understand what kind of pain that woman was in...yeah! Because I am in it too!

After not getting anywhere as far as scheduling, I am so thankful for 1 nurse that took it upon herself to find me a new doctor (no the one that had messed up the scheduling). She now has me with a totally new doctor, she arrranged the 5 hours for the OR, and everything!

She was so wonderful!

I think I have had my last period, I am due to start on the date of my surgery, July 16th. I am absolutely dying!
I went in to see the new doc last week because I could not stand the pain any more. He did an ultrasound. It showed that there is endo all throughout the uterus and that I have cysts on my left ovary, not to mention the fact that my left ovary is STUCK to my uterus because of all the endo and adhesions!!

July 16th can't get here soon enough. I hardly have any energy! Anyone have any suggestions? I cleaned 2 bathrooms this morning and had to lay down I was so tired. I am so fatigued! I am taking a multivitamin 2 times a day and 1000 gm of vitamin C a day as my doctor ordered, but I have no energy. I eat healthy, a lot of chicken and salads. I have cut out the junk food, but still have 2-3 cokes a day. Yes, I know I should stop this, I plan to after my surgery, I just can't seem to do it on my own yet!

I need help and suggestions for the pain and the fatigue!

Thank you so much for letting me vent. I just want to cry all the time and I want the pain to go away. I feel as if I am all alone, none of my friends have dealt with anythign like this. One second I want it to be over, but the next I am anxious about not being prepared for when I come home. (I already have a freezer piled full of food becuase I thought I would be going in in June).

Thanks for listening and letting me vent!

I'm so sorry!

You've have been through so much! My heart goes out to you. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

In regards to the pain, the only thing that helped me pre-op was Darvocet and a heating pad. I was also very fatigued from anemia caused by excessive bleeding. I made sure I ate a lot of foods rich in iron, such as cream of wheat, red meat, leafy green veggies, etc. I also learned that taking my iron supplement with orange juice helped the iron absorb better. I also got lots and lots of rest.

I'm glad you were able to get a new doctor and get everything straightened out. That would have scared me to death to have such incompentence surrounding such a major surgery! I wouldn't have let anyone in that office near me with a ten-foot pole!

When is your new surgery date? Don't forget to update your profile so we can send you off in style. And please keep us updated as to how you are doing. We're here for you if you need us!

s,

Lisa

Pain meds

I tried Darvocet, it did nothing!

I am now taking Vicodan. It only seems to take the edge off. I only have 30 tablets to make it through 4 weeks so I am trying to just take them when I REALLY need them, which unfortunately seems to be most of the time. I am not getting quality sleep. I just really want this to be over.

I am tired of being so tired. I had the ultrasound done on basically day 1 of my cycle. I told him my period was heavy, it was as if he didn't beleive me. When he removed the ultrasound, he said "yes, your period is quite heavy". I guess the big clots were a clue for him. I responded with " Not as heavy as it will be over the next 3 days". I am so glad that is my last. I just wnat the pain to stop! I keep thinking if I get to moving more I will get more energy and feel better but it hurts too much!

I am not one to just sit around (unless I'm on the computer, lol!)
It tires me out to drive anywhere. Will I feel better after the surgery? Is this *normal* to feel this bad?

Thanks
