Dr. changed hrt

It's been a year since I had my TVH, I went to the Dr. today for a yearly exam. I have been taking Premarin .625 since last July when I went back for my 6week check up. I was having hot flashes not sleeping and so forth. Today he changed my prescription to Activella tablets. He stated that since I still have my ovaries that it would be best to take this to get the estrogen and progestrone too. I understood what he was telling me and why I he made the change. I just have not heard of Activella and I haven't really seen it mentioned much here. I was wondering if anyone else is taking this and how they are getting along with it? I went to the web site address and read up on what it said about it.I have been pleased with how well I have gotten along with the premarin, I am wondering if I will be just as happy with the results I get with this. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with activella and can give me the pro's and con's?

Hi, I tried Activella for a few weeks. At first I did fine with it. I just started to feel like I had high testosterone symptoms (or continued to have them). I was on bio-identical and I was kind of bloated, acne, hair growth, etc. I did so well for years on BCPs so we thought maybe activella would be better, less conversion. The estrogen in activella is estradiol and it also has a progestin. I may try FemHRT as it is all synthetic and is like BCP.

If you don't like activella you may want to consider using two separate pills (or creams or patches). One for estrogen and one for progesterone. That would make it easier to adjust doses.

I hope this works well for you.

Deneice,
Here's the website for Activella so you can read a bit more http://www.activella.com

Here's a thread that I located where it has been discussed on these boards: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ight=activella

Activella contains progestin, which is different than progesterone. You can read more about progesterone here www.hormonejungle.com/progesterone.php

Thanks for the information it was helpful. I guess I will just have to give it try and if I don't feel like it works as well I will have to call the Dr. and tell him about it. Thank you
