Keeping ovaries

I'm hopefully going to be able to keep my ovaries when I have a TAH on July 10th. My question is this, how long after surgery do the ovaries start working again? How will I know if they are NOT working? Will I gain weight? Thanks in advance...

Keeping ovaries

Hi!!

I had a TAH on May 29th, and I was able to keep my ovaries. To be honest with you, right now I really haven't felt anything "different" so far. Haven't really had any PMS symptoms, but then again, there have been no signs that they aren't working (ie Hot flashes, etc!) I think each woman is individual in this and your body will tell you if and when things return to normal.

Ovaries

My experience is like Connie's. I had a TAH on May 23, and kept both ovaries. I can't tell if they are working or not. No PMS, no hot flashes, nothing. (I'm taking the soy supplement Estroven too, so maybe that is helping.) I have noticed acne a couple of times, which I usually get just before my period. I guess that's a good sign.

Oh, and a funny thing about hot flashes. I thought I was having them a few days after surgery. I'd be sitting in my recliner with my laptop and I'd start getting so hot! I almost froze my poor daughter since I kept the air conditioner down on subzero temperatures.

About a week ago, I bought a new desktop computer and have been using it instead of the laptop. The first thing I noticed was that I wasn't having anymore hot flashes!!!!

What I thought were hot flashes the whole time was the heat from my laptop computer!!!! Sheesh, do I ever feel stupid!!!!

How dumb can I possibly get and still breath. Well, at least I solved my hot flash problem.

s,

Lisa
