humor of hysterectomy, humbly happy

Hi,
It is hard to believe that in just one days diffence, pre-op to post-op, how proud of myself I have become. The first couple of days I would pat myself on the back if I was able to walk, or get out of bed unassisted. If I passed gassed I felt I deserved an oscar. Then the happy days of being able to have a bm, even though painful, I felt as if I had climbed Mt. Everest, of course, I still need fiberous help, but it was an accomplishment. Then the glorious day 8, I could sit cross legged, what a relief to my aching back any change in position was grateful, I really did clap for myself. Then came the day where I could walk straight up, not bent over like an ape (wow!!! I'm superwoman). Then came riding in the car, something that even before my visit to the castle had become almost unbearable, It didn't hurt too much, I'm going places now. Then came the ability to bend over and pick something up, even though it took great effort, and not much finesse, I was able to pick up some of the things up I seem to keep dropping.
So ladies when things are getting you down, don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back for all the little things you are accomplishing, even though they may be small they are mountains to us sisters. Each day brings new mountains to climb and someday soon we will stand tall on the highest peak.

humbly happy,
Giselle

The magnificent BM

Since the horror and trauma of emergency surgery on my bowel to address a life threatening situation.................

We cheer and applaud for my daily BM at my house!

Yes, that is truly a post hysterectomy accomplishment for me!

The DH applauds, the dog applauds, even the ever disinterested cats come in and check the toidie and give me a "well done"
salute.
I never thought I'd be so happy and proud about such a simple thing.
But truly, the whole process has now moved past functional to something of a fine art.

Yes, it is those little things we once took for granted that are now cause for great celebrations.

Hooray!

Giselle: Thanks for the memories! Now at 4 months post-op, I am reaching new heights!! I got a lot of laughs out of reading your post...and read the whole thing to my 25-year-old daughter who is recovering(1 week from surgery) from a back surgery. She is learning, like all of us hystersisters, that each day's progress can range from feeling excruciatingly slow to feeling astonishingly rapid. Each day is a new miracle. Thanks so much for reminding me to keep an attitude of gratitude every day. You are an inspiration! God Bless, :

Giselle,

Thank you for starting this thread to remind us that there is humor (and that we progress daily) following our procedures!
