Chicken Little

I am not yet a Princess, my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 and I am TERRIFIED, I am suppose to have a LAVH. I would really be interested in knowing when sisters that had the same surgery started to feel better or wanted to get out of the house. My DH seems to think I will be feeling awful for 6 - 8 weeks and then after the 8th week a fairy will tap me on the shoulder and I will miracuosly feel better.

Chicken Little

I didn't have a LAVH, but I will bet that fairy taps you a bit sooner than 8 wks! I am 6 wks post TAH and think that fairy tapped me about 2 wks ago. (and I never felt awful)

Spent two days at work for a continuing education course lasting 8hrs the first day and 6 hrs today. Was tired yesterday, but just fine today!

Good luck (and don't tell DH if you feel better before that 8wk time. Just let him keep pampering you )

Chicken Little

Hi,
I think its perfectly normal to be scared. After all it is major surgery. I had an LAVH/BSO on the 8th of May. Before the surgery I had panic attacks where I would just about pass out. But the surgery went well and I recouperated quickly. I never felt awful. Even when I overdid it a bit. The first 2 weeks I took a couple naps every day but after that I didn't need any at all. I am soooo glad that I had the surgery. I am totally pain free now. No cramps and heavy bleeding and clotting. It was worth every panic attack I had. Prayer and the sisters here at this site has helped me before and after surgery.
I'm sure you'll do fine
You'll be in my prayers
God Bless you

Chicken Little

I had a LAVH w/ BSO on the 16th of June and came home on the morning of the 21st so I am 9 days out of surgery. I am feeling basically fine although I get tired very easily. I quit taking pain meds during the day on day 4 and took them at night for just a couple of days after that. I have a few twinges of pain (stitches tightening??) now and again, but nothing major. Today is the first day that it hasn't really bothered me to sit for a long period of time in my computer chair. Before today, it kinda ached in my lower abdomen after a while, but that went away as soon as I got up from the chair. I am taking it pretty easy - just a little light housework, walking up stairs several times a day. I think that I will start walking around, or at least partially around, the block tomorrow. It really hasn't been that bad. Hormonally - I've had hot flashes and I never thought I could be hot and cold at the same time! I was weepy for about two days (days 5 and 6), but could have been because my hubby went back to work and I was pretty much alone coupled with the lack of hormones. Everythings fine now!
You'll be up and around before you know it! Just think - no more periods!

Chicken Little

I had a LAVH in February. I spent one night in the hospital. The first week I was fairly sore but I got plenty of rest, drank lots of water, and took a few short walks. By week two I was feeling so much better - no longer need any pain meds. By week three I went out to dinner with my DH for the first time since surgery. After being out of the house a couple hours I was ready for bed. I still continued to rest and pamper myself. I followed all my doctors post-op instructions to the tee. AT my 6 week check I got cleared to resume all activities. I gradually eased back into housework, exercise, etc. The main thing is to rest and let someone else do the laundry, housework, cooking, liftting, etc.

I will be praying that your surgery goes well. Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Feeling Better

Thank you ladies you have really eased my mind. The only thing I will have trouble with is allowing someone else to the laundry, but I will get over it.

Thanks again.
