7 months-postop bleeding & discharge

I have a question. Wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Since my total hysterectomy 7 months ago, I have continued to have a slight yellowish discharge (just enough to wear a panty shield). Now, this weekend after having sex, I started bleeding. Stopped soon after, but wondered what could have caused this? Any idea?

Time to make a check up

Hi, not nearly as far down the road, but figured I'd add my two cents worth anyway! I guess from your surgery of TVH you had cervix removed, so it's not mini periods. I guess it could be an erosion or sore spot on vaginal cuff which may need a check or perhaps some treatment, I think I have seen posts that talk about silver nitrate. It's not likely that you are going to forget about it, regardless of how many replies may be posted, so perhaps just go and see your doc and get your peace of mind soon as possible.

Hope to see a " all better now" posting soon, good luck, Linda

7 months-postop bleeding & discharge

((((Linda)))))) That's a very long time, indeed, to have this discharge. I know, 'cause that's how it was for me.

In my case, I did mention it to my doctor, both at my 6 week post-op and when I consulted because I was having peri-menopausal problems at 5 months post-op. I did have some granulation at my 6 week check-up... but it was confirmed at my 5 months appointment that the cauterization had cleared it away.

My doctor said that the prolonged discharge was the result of the repairs I had to deal with the rectocele I had.

I also think that you should mention this to your doctor, especially since there is now new bleeding adding up to your symptoms. Your doctor will most likely want to see you, in order to assess the situation properly.

Sending lots of healing s your way. We're here for you.

7 months-postop bleeding & discharge

There must be something in the air! I am also at 7 months post op and -- after I thought I was fine and through with it all -- I started suddenly bleeding this week. My doctor cauterized me yesterday with Silver Nitrate and said I may need a few more treatments. He said it was granulation tissue, but he's not sure why.

I am going for a sono tonight to make sure there is no internal bleeding.

Marcia
