Had my surgery July 12 2001.
Just wanted everyone who will be visiting the castle this week to know that out of all my experiences leading up to my surgery, the surgery was the easiest part. (I had TAH.) I could have chosen to have it any time in the last few years, but I didn't want to submit to major surgery. I had fibroids that were getting to 20 weeks size, but I thought I'd hit menopause soon and they would shrink. I lost the race when the fibroids started to hemorrhage and wouldn't stop. This past spring, when the weather would be "just so" and the activities of a certain day would be the same as they were on a day last year when I would end up in the emergency room, I would start to have a panic attack and have to take Xanax. But this week, even though the weather is similar and the activities are similar as they were last year the week before surgery, I am totally relaxed because it was not traumatic. My one piece of advice is what I think I did that worked out well: After the surgery, I took the pain killers that were allotted without trying to be a martyr because I had theory that ended up working well for me. While the pain killers were in effect, I moved . . I walked . . . I climbed in and out of bed. This way, my muscles benefitted while I was in less pain than if I had not taken the painkillers. I believe this early activity (only what was allowed by my doctor) accelerated my recovery. I wish everyone who will be visiting the castle a speedy recovery with no regret.

That is great advice
You are right. This will be my 6th abdominal surgery adn I am going to do just that instead of waiting for the medicine to wear off! Boy, you would think I would have learned before then! That sounds like a much better way to go!
Thanks
