Abdominal Binder

Hi - This is my last chance to ask this question as I'll be leaving for the castle tomorrow. Having a TAH/BSO and a TVT sling.
Have been told that the abdominal binder is a must and so I got one. Is it to be worn in the hospital or at home? Please advise ASAP. Best to all the princesses - thanks for all your help and good advice. Carol

The Binder

I haven't been to the castle yet, but from what I hear about binders is that they are a help in the castle & when you get home. Where did you get yours? I thought the castle supplies them!Sending positive energy & best wishes for a speedy recovery! Rena

binder

I know that some on this site really recommend a sling and not having been there, I don't have first hand experience (yet) from the hyster. perspective... I do from when I had a c-section 15 years ago. I was in a country that believed in binding after c-section. It was WONDERFUL!!!
EXCEPT..... Now I have a permanent bulge at the incision site. My stomach muscles were not required to "bounce back" or work at getting strong again. My gyne here in the states told me it was because I was bound.
That was my experience. I am sure there will be other opinions as is always the case here!
I will attempt this time to not use any binding or maybe only short periods of time...

Abdominal Binder

Hi,

I say, "ditto" to the reply from Andrea. It helps with the, I'm aching and things are falling out feeling. It is not a hospital garmet requirement. Those who use them seem to love them. Although they feel wonderful, your muscles should be doing the work of holding your tummy in. Ask you doctor his views.

Rena, they can be purchased at a large drug store. In CA we have Longs and Walmart..or, any medical supply house.

Abdominal Binder

Hi,
I'm not sure who told you this is a must; I would ask your doctor first. I was never even suggested to me. Personally I think it's best, unless there are some complications, to let your own stomach muscles work again.
