5 Months Post Op and Miserable...what's going on?
I really need to vent - I'm so sorry! I had my TAH/BSO on 2/18, so I'm almost five months post op now.
My belly still swells everyday, somedays much more than others. Sometimes it's so bad, even in the mornings, that I can barely zip and button my pants. Other times it is almost flat again (and I do emphasize the word "almost" ) . My stomach is still extremely tender to the touch. My BF likes to make fun of my very swollen tummy and "pat" it (even though he knows it's very painful) while laughing and making very hurtful comments about how big it is, then says he's only kidding and knows that I can't help it. I absolutely hate having sex and do everything possible to avoid it. It still hurts and I still bleed; then for two days I spot and hurt even more. Every couple of days I get incredibly sharp pains in my side where I think my ovaries used to be, and other times I just have a very dull but painful ache for hours at a time. I am miserable! BF says he's tired of all my "excuses" of being tired all the time and hurting, that I am only faking it since I should be "over it" by now. He's moving out as I write this. I'm OK with that since I'm really tired of being called names and laughed at. I'm really not upset about that since it really should have happened months ago - he never even came to the hospital (had to work, you know)!
I am tired of hurting all the time, though! I've called my dr several times, even talked to the "big man" himself. He just dismisses my concerns and says that it takes up to a year to fully heal. I know that it's normal for swelly belly to be around for this long, but what about the pain and bleeding - and being tired? Is this normal 5 months after? I'm miserable, confused, frustrated, tired, irritated....on and on and on. I'm just sick of feeling this way. Is it time to maybe get a second opinion or am I really just being a big whiny baby? If it is normal to still be hurting and bleeding and tired all the time at five months, please tell me how much longer I have to deal with this!!! I am really beginning to regret having a hyst. I am on HRT (Cenestin) and so far I think it's working since I'm not having hot flashes and mood swings and such.
Sorry I'm venting so much, but ya'll seem to be the only ones that really understand! I appreciate any suggestions.

Dana
I am sorry about your pain. I think a second opinion is a very good idea. Sometimes our Doctors really don't listen to us and it is good to talk with someone else.
And good ridence on the BF, he sound like a big pain, one you really don't need right now.

5 Months Post Op and Miserable...what's going on?
Hello! I had a tah/bso April 23 and I am doing very well. I haven't had any bleeding, just some light tan discharge at 4 wks. My doctor warned me about that though. I really think a second opinion would be wise. A friend of mine had her hysterectomy June of last year. She said it truly does take a year to heal completely, but u still bleeding and having so much pain doesn't seem right. please check with another doctor. I hope everything gets better.

So Long BOYfriend
I'm really sorry you aren't doing well.
I'm only 6 wks. post op and still healing so I can't answer your questions, but I would definitely get another opinion. Something doesn't sound right.
Maybe all the aggravation and forced sex from the "boy" (a man would respect you enough to let you heal and not want to hurt you) has slowed down the healing process. Stress does have an affect on healing and on how much pain you're in. "Been there, done that" with kids. My boys (22 and 17 yrs.) had nothing but problems for the last 6 weeks and my Mom was in the hospital the same time as I was and isn't doing very well. Whenever I would get upset, my swelly belly would hurt even more.
Get another opinion ASAP and try to rest and relax now that your aggravation is gone. When you're back on your feet and feeling better, you can find someone who will respect you and treat you like you should be treated.
Hope things start working out for you now and you feel better soon.

Hi Dana,
what an awful time you're having! I feel badly for you!
I don't think that at your stage this kind of pain and bleeding is normal. I too urge you to get another opinion!
Let us know what happens!
