Lupron -- has anyone tried it?

I went to my pre-op visit today for a Lap assisted TVH. I am very very anemic and have a difficult time getting built up. The Dr only gave me a 75% chance that a TVH could be done as my fibroid is so large (8CM) and 4 month size uterus. Since I have never had a child -- this also lowered my odds. Dr suggested Lupron (only 2 shots) in order to shrink both the firbroid and the uterus by 50%to move to a 95% chance of Lap assisted TVH.

Anyone in similar situation? Want to know what side effects anyone is experiencing.

Lupron -- has anyone tried it?

I can't help you there, Sylvia.

My Dr. mentioned Lupron to me, since I haven't had children either, and my fibroid is as big as a softball, with others all around. But he said it causes the ovaries to stop producing estrogen, and I would have to go through hot flashes, sweats etc. Well, I already do that a bit, so I said no, and we'll just wing it. He's going to start with TVH/BSO, and if it has to be TAH, so be it.
But I'm not anemic, so I can see why your Dr. is suggesting it.

Good luck!!

Lupron

Hi Silvia,
I was on Lupron for three months for endometriosis, and my side effects weren't really that terrible. I'm 28 and had my last injection of Lupron in May. I haven't had a period since my first injection. I had a few hot flashes and a couple of nights of sweats, but that was about it. My pre-op appointment for a LAVH (lap assisted vaginal hysterectomy) is tomorrow and my surgery date is Thursday July 11th, so I'm right there with you when it comes to being nervous. I hope I helped with a little info about the Lupron. Blessings to you.

Hi Silvia

There was another thread regarding Lupron started today (July8th) around 1 pm. I am sorry that I don't know how to paste it here for you to take a look at, but if you look back into that general area, it talks some more about Lupron/side effects.
Good luck!
