My awful MRI experience : (

Hi ladies -
I had my MRI today of my foot & boy was I glad when it was finally over !! I got there & the tech set me up so my foot wouldnt move & told me it would take 30-35 minutes. He put headphones on me (didnt even ask) with some half-way decent music on.
The problem is that after about 10 minutes of laying there my pelvic pain just went thru the roof  !! And I couldnt move!!! It was awful - thank god it wasnt any longer than a half hour.
So the moral of the story here is (I know, I sound like a doofus) - If you are getting a test done where you are not allowed to move & you have been having a lot of pain - take your meds before you go in (even if you dont have pain *before* the test) !! I sure learned the hard way today.
So thats my "foot" update for now. 's to all my sis's

((((Susan))))) I'm so sorry you had such a painful experience I know what you mean about taking pain meds before such experiences: every time I didn't I ended up paying, dearly, for it.

Hope you've been pampering the since and that you're feeling better.

Sending tons of healing s your way.

Hi girls - thanks for your replys

My ortho dr. will get the results in a couple days. I had a real scary expeience though this morning. My GP's office called & left a message asking me to call them about my test results. Well, I just had it done yesterday & they dont normally call you so soon. So of course I assumed the worst (ya'll know how I am ......).
Anyway, I called them & I guess they were calling me about my bone scan results from about 2 wks. ago - not my MRI yesterday. Whew !!! I told the nurse she really scared me & she kinda laughed
Sheri: Thank God it was an open MRI - since it was my foot they were doing, my head wasnt even in it. My mother had a brain tumor taken out 11 yrs. ago & has had to go in the "closed" ones. She told me she just closed her eyes - I would of freaked out They would have to conk me out to get me in one of those things
I decided that I am going to take DD to Busch Gardens today (we have yearly passes so we go a lot). I have been kinda mulling it over because I cant do much walking. They want 30$ for renting an electric "scooter" thingie !!! Thats ridiculous, & I cant afford it since I am not working right now. So I decided to go ahead & just use a regular wheelchair. Dont know yet how hard it will be to wheel myself around - I will let 6 yr. old DD try her hand at pushing me but I sincerely doubt she will be able to do it. It ought to be interesting ! I will let you all know how it works out Lol
I hope everyone is having a good day !

(((((((hugs)))))))

Susan

P.S. - I'm feeling much better - thanks for asking

The Old MRI Machines

My DH is wide thru the shouders ( like Tarzan) years ago he had an MRI laying on his side to get the shoulder, he had a panic button to push, no one answered it so he crawled outa the machine. Our insurance company had a fit! This must have been about 1989, he was squessed in and the pain was awful plus he got claustraphobic. We laugh about it now, but he isn't the kind to take any crap from anyone. He just walks out of Dr appointments if he has to wait more than 20 minutes, I could kill him. lol, he's better now that he's on celexa, lol. We always
laugh about him crawling out of the machine, it wasn't funny at the time. He just recently had to retire and sell the business we ran together for 30 years because of his shoulder, arthritus
and calcification and slipped tendons, but it all started there.
The last MRI he had a couple years ago wasn't as bad ( easy for me to say) but he did take his pain meds and a xanax
before he went. I had a brain scan in 1978 and they literly strapped your head to something that looked like a TV monitor.

(((Susan))) Laying flat for any length of time is not a good place for us to be
I had the closed MRI as they did my brain, but thankfully they asked if I was claustraphobic and bombed me out. I nearly went to sleep - if it wasn't for all that banging
Hopefully you will get some answers soon!
