Incision Infection at 8 weeks post Op?

I have an 8" abdominal insicion that had healed beautifully. Now last week I noticed an area about 1" in length that has turned red and now burns. It's popped like a keloid scar. Is it just that that area turned into a keloid and can they burn? Surely, I wouldn't have gotten an infection in it at this late date? I did have some dry heaves pretty bad last weekend, could I have popped the incision a bit?

Other than that at 8 weeks post op doing pretty good.

I think this warrants a call to your DR. Ask them about the burning and redness. New symptoms, even at this point, should be investigated. Let the DR decide .

Hi,
This does sound a little odd at your stage, particularly if the incision previously seemed nicely healed. I too would definitely call the doctor, in case there is something else going on! I didn't think you can really pop anything now, unless you had some kind of major trauma, but I don't really know!

I too am 8 weeks, and figured that I didn't have to worry about that incision any more at least!
