Home and Recovering!!
Hello Gals! Wow seems like forever since I was in here. hehe... I had my complete hyst ( with ovaries ) on July 2nd. I came home last Friday...they kept catheter in me the whole week, and I was also on liquid diet all week. I came home in alot of pain. Even as I sit here today, a week and a half later (almost) my tummy is still uncomfy. But I'm so happy to have it behind me, now its only recovery ahead!! The doc said I'm cancer free, no signs at all that it had a chance to spread elsewhere. My incision is from right beneath my belly button ...down. I didnt get a bikini cut, which i was upset about, so i am hoping it isnt as ugly as im imagining it to be hahaha. All andall Im alright, getting stronger everyday.
Except I do have questions. For instance, I'm sooooo sick of just lying on my back when I sleep, it's so uncomfy and my back and tailbone hurts constantly. I'm afraid to try and lay on my side, for it only being a little over a week ago, afraid i'll pull something or damage it. Now I get my staples out tomorrow morning!!! I'll ask my doc about sleeping differently, but i was wondering if u ladies had same concerns. It's good to be home!!! Talk to u soon!!!!! Love, Crystal

Home and Recovering!!
Welcome home!
DOn't sit too long, I know the pain that starts when you do that. I am not a back sleeper so I got onto my side and grabbed my little pillow and kind of propped my hips up on it. THat was I was leaning onto the pillow and it supported me.
If you have insomnia after you start feeling better, many of us do, try simply sleep..it's not addictive and really works for me!
Take care and rest!

Home and Recovering!!
Glad you are home recovering! Pamper yourself! Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and take some short walks. If you continue to have difficulty sleeping, tell your doctor. Hope you continue to recover nicely! Take care.

side-sleeper
I'm 5 weeks post-op and have enjoyed sleeping on my tummy again! YEA!
For earlier, I found that if I wore a girdle panty to bed, it made it easier to lay on my side (things didn't flop over, rather stayed nice and snug).
Here's to your continued wonderful recovery!!!

Home and Recovering!!
Hi Crystal!
Welcome home from the castle, Princess!
I can relate to the discomfort when trying to sleep at night! I was not comfortable sleeping on my sides or tummy for several weeks, but I've read about many who were able to do it much sooner, so hang in there, sweetie!
The girdle thing sounds like a great idea! Worth a try! Also, you might try to put a [small] pillow directly under the small of your back. This helps take the pressure off your legs and your tummy.
Overall, I found pillows to be the key to comfort during the first month or so of my recovery.
Best wishes, hon' - hope you find a way to rest and be comfy!
