When Can I (Can I?) Lose it?

OK--two weeks to the move if I get all the medical forms in and TB test OK. I think by then I'll have lost it totally. I called cable TV today to cancel here and start there--and I thought gov't bureaucracy was bad? Have to be there alive and in person the next a.m. while they actually plug in the TV (!?) and connect the cable! I can't be home waiting for St. Vincent, cleaning up, or whatever--oh, and I can't have where the TV will sit (a stand and a file cabinet) up against the outlet... They have more rules than we did at work! I am looking at the pile boxed to take and going--ALL this? OK--so one box has a mattress pad and two sheet sets and another has my towels (they provide--but you can have your own and I want my big soft fluffy ones) and one has the t.p. and kleenex I know I won't use between now and then and one has my winter boots and "good" shoes. I can't pack much more until just before (taking service for 4 of dishes and need to eat) but I think I'm losing it. I won't have room for my cedar chest, which I suddenly have become attached to, or my lingerie chest (well, I could squeeze it in one spot and may take it) or my lovely dresser and mirror or my loveseat (unless I take that and not the sofa--but then when I can't sleep I stretch out on that...the loveseat would make things roomier but I can't stretch out)--I think this is going to do me in! Plus I realized the part of my wonderful Snoopy & Woodstock collection I haven't given to its new home is still too much to take--so I bagged up all but three and have to give those away...and then maybe the week after I move in I start carboplatin? By then I'll be inpatient I fear. I'll have help waiting out at the new place (and I understand the residents love to watch people move in to see what's going on--that's OK, kind of cute) and everything as ready as I can here--but can I make it? Or am I as out in left field as I feel?

When Can I (Can I?) Lose it?

Huge s Ellen

You most certainly will make it, through all of these upcoming events. You are one of the most together people I have ever encountered in cyberspace.
Not only will you make it, you will thrive in your new environment. And the people around you will benefit by your presence. I think some great new friends are in store for you!!!
One day at a time dear friend.
I only wish I were there to be of real help to you.
Sending thoughts and prayers your way Ellen!~!!!!

I sure wish you weren't having to go through all of this, moving is such a pain all by itself... but I am betting that you WILL succeed in getting everything set, and will get through this.... as you are one VERY strong cookie.... an inspiration for all of us, I believe...

My thoughts and prayers are with you....... and screw the space.... take the couch!

Good Luck...... breathe in... breathe out...

When Can I (Can I?) Lose it?

(((Margaret))))
I wish I were there as well to help you out with all this!!
You know something......I would take everything that I wanted to take, and fit it in the best I could. These are YOUR things, your sofa is important as you say, you can't stretch out on the love seat. Squeeze it in, because these are your comforts from home, and you should have them with you.
And your Snoopy and Woodstock collection...take it all Margaret!! Even if its in a closet at the new place at least its in your closet.
A nice spacious room is fine, but if these things make you happy and feel good, then take whatever is special to you!!!

Hopefully everything will fall into place, and its just getting all the calls made for hookups etc, that takes the time, and it is hard to schedule those things especially if they are being done in both places the same day.

This time next month you will be all settled and able to rest and relax, and concentrate on you!!
Sending lots of love and huge hugs (((((Margaret))))))

When Can I (Can I?) Lose it?

Hi Margaret,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your letter made me think of all the times I have had to move. All the decisions. It is so stressful. They say do one small thing at a time. Whatever you are looking at/ focusing on at that minute, pick that up, handle that and you will feel better immediately. One by one, it will get done. Take care.

When Can I (Can I?) Lose it?

I hope that the assisted living facilities in your area are like the ones here. One of my friends Mom just moved into one. She has a large studio apartment (she like the lay-out better than the full one bedroom and didn't need the two bedroom). The environment is resort-like with happy hour, a beauty salon, internet cafe, library, and planned outings for the joiner types. The night she moved in, her family ate with her and the menu was salmon filets, asparagus and real mashed potatoes (after which the dessert cart came around). My friend said the meal was as good as any you get on our "restuarant row" and pay big bucks for. If sne ever needs additional help, she can have maid service, daily bed making, help dressing, etc.

I know this isn't your regular home, but I hope that this new home has as many wonders and amenities as my friend's mom's assisted living home. Home is where you make it and you have the right attitude to make this new one your own. Having folks tend to your needs can only be a good thing. I hope your new place is really enjoyable and that you make a lot of new friends.
