Complex endometrial hyperplasia with focal atypia. Who has had this DX and cancer was found during hysterectomy?

I am looking to chat with others who have this DX. I am concerned about them finding cancer during hysterectomy.

I am scheduled for a consultation with a gynecological oncologist on Feb 2.

There are many women here who've had a similar dx. I had complex hyperplasia with atypia and both gynie and gyn/oncs strongly advised surgery; in fact during surgery they found a low stage/grade cancer so their recommendation was right on mark. I do not know if having a "focal" complex hyperplasia decreases odds that cancer may be there but you can ask your doctors. In any case, with complex hyperplasia with atypia it will eventually move to cancer so pls keep that in mind too.
As you may be aware pre-endometrial cancer usually moves slowly and gives signs (post menopausal bleeding, very heavy periods,etc) so it can usually be caught early and also IF cancer already is there it is most likely wil be low grade and stage. We recommend that when surgery is needed if one has a pre-cancer dx, that they strongly consider having a gyn/onc; these specialists will do all the extra steps (abdominal wash,checking of lymph nodes,etc.) to insure the best outcome.

I just joined and newly diagnosed. Surgery not scheduled yet. Still in a daze as the plan was for ablation and did biopsy and here we are.

Diagnosis comes as a shock to all of us. Is yours for hyperplasia or full-blown cancer? My mother had hyperplasia, so that's what I expected my own diagnosis to be. Surprise! I had cancer, grade 2/3. It was a bit of a journey, but that was four years ago and things are going well. :-)
