No HRT and Headaches

I would always get a whopper headache during my period. I was sure that once I had my TAH/BSO my headaches would be gone. No such luck. I am having the same type of 2 day whopper I would get during my period. Not on any HRT, just calcium, soy, Vit E, and flaxseed at the moment. I'm still experimenting with what to take. Anyway, anyone have a similar situation?

Thanks!

No HRT and Headaches

Hi leenie,

I have not had my TAH/BSO yet but, I do have migranes. It sounds like that is what you may have. Do you have floaters in your eyes or aura or flashes? Is the pain worse when you move your head? Is it better in the dark and worse in the sun? If you can relate to these questions then it is probably migranes and you should avoid caffeine, dark chocolate, aged cheese, red wine-- there are more things in which I cannot think of at the moment but, if that is what you are experiencing you can research it on the net. Helpful hints also include: lay down in a dark and quiet place where you will have no interuptions and place a cold cloth at the back of your neck (this will draw the pressure from your head)

I know this is not completely answering your questions but, I hope it will help.

headaches

Leenie,
I am about a week ahead of you on recovery. I was getting whopper headaches. Man oh man! Since I have started on Vitamins and supplements I only get sinus headaches now. Caffeine withdrawal can be awful, too. So you might want to watch that as Elizabeth has suggested. If it does not improve, please call your DR as you should not have to suffer.

No HRT and Headaches

leenie, I, also, hoped the TAH/BSO would stop the headaches, but it didn't. Mine are migraines brought on by stress, mainly. I haven't had one in a while, but I am a teacher off for the summer, so that has a lot to do with it. I also get them from red wine, and if I eat a lot of chocolate. (a normal amount doesn't do anything)
So, unfortunately, if you are still getting the headaches they might be migraines brought on by something you eat or by stress.
Good luck. If you are still bothered and can't figure where they are coming from, ask your doctor. Mine aren't severe enough for a prescription. Excedrin Migraine and an ice pack at the base of my neck work for me so far. (Sometimes...I know this sounds goofy, but I wear sun glasses inside until the excedrin and ice work because I can't stand light.)

love,
Maggie

No HRT and Headaches

Hi Leenie,
I would like to add that nitrates is another biggie for migranes. They are found in almost all deli meats. Bacon is really bad. I also get my migranes with stress.
