New to board
Hello all,
Im new to the board and though to say hello to everyone.
Im having a total hysterectomy done 8/20..do not know yet if it will be abdominal or with the lap (one of those questions I kinda forgot to ask).
Im 33 yrs old and live in GA, have 3 teenage boys-my youngest being disabled with Down Syndrome.
The last 2-3 years have been miserable with constant ovarian cysts, some which rupture others which were removed during a lap last year, really heavy bleeding-to the point where ya cant go out and do much of anything between the bleeding and pain. After a few er visits for the pain of ruptured cysts and finally getting in with my ob/gyn again they have found yet again more cysts and numerous uterine fibroids. After taking all their different
meds and suggestions on how to get a handle on things with no change they say enough is enough and have scheduled the hyst.
Even though it is something i want done and knew eventually would be all those little worries and freaking out is starting to come into play now that a date is made. Ive read alot of your posts here and got to say how helpful & reassuring they are, also lets me know Im not going crazy with all the pre-op thoughts
Thanks for listening..

Welcome
Hi KGunter,
Welcome to hystersisters!!! This is a wonderful place. So many women who are going or have been where you are headed!!! I am having my surgery on July 31 (one more week). It is really an emotional time. My children are all grown & gone. But it sounds like yours will be a help to you.
Any questions that you have, there is usually someone here that has the answers!
And just think, no more pain, bleeding & disruptions from you normal life!!
Welcome again,
WebDeb

Hey, I know you
Welcome! I hope you find this site to be as helpful as I have. In the past three weeks I've learned so much from the wonderful sisters that I could not imagine going through surgery without this place. Make sure you look at all the pull down menus for pre surgery hints and ideas.
You're definitely not going crazy

Hi Ladies!
Keep reading the wonderful things that are on this site. This is the best site in all of cyberspace, and it made the prospect of my surgery seem a lot less frightening (even tho I was still scared silly--for no reason as it turned out). Having a computer full of questions, answers, information and support made all the difference.
I wish you both the very best and know you will be so very, very happy you are having this done. Every day I still think about how great I feel now as opposed to before surgery. It was a life-changing experience for me on many levels, and all the changes are good.

new and nervous!
I am have surgery........ after years of bleeding and pain......... trying more drugs than i can remember........... I have reached the point of no return. At an emergency visit to my GYN yesterday......... my surgery date was moved from October 7th to July 31st. a short time to get extremely stressed about surgery may turn out to be a good thing! Had my pre-op physical today........ high blood pressure that needs to come down before they will do the surgery.......... i'm already on Atenolol for the blood pressure........ they are starting me on something that supposedly brings down blood pressure but not pulse. Go back to Dr. on Monday for a blood pressure check.
thanks to a wonderful nurse in my Dr's office.......... I found all of you! I've been reading posts for about an hour now........ and have to say...... this is a GREAT place!! I don't feel so alone anymore.
I want my life back......... I want to be able to make plans and not have to worry about packing enough "supplies" just in case. I'm sick and tired of cancelling plans at the last moment because i am lying in bed, barely able to move............. and i've been thinking i was the only one suffering through all of this......
My AOL screen name is HSPatriotsFan......... if anyone cares to talk........... or can tell me how to get into the chat room....... it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks......... so very much.
