Hi Tina Raye

I had a lot of trouble sleeping during my recovery time too. I had insomnia for weeks, and didn't start getting back to my regular sleep pattern until I went back to work.

It's possible if you kept your ovaries that you could be ovulating. Mine kicked back in with a vengence this week, and I ended up depressed and crying for a couple of days. (And that's unusual for me, even with pre-op PMS, I never got depressed.)

After surgery, your hormones may be out of balance for awhile. You might want to contact your doctor about taking some natural soy supplements and perhaps some Tylenol P.M. for the insomnia.

I hope you feel better soon. It's not fun to be sad and sleepy!!

Lisa

Tina,

I bet ya that Shashi is right on. You're only 4 weeks post op and your body needs alot more time. And not getting enough sleep is part of it and just adds to the spiral down feeling. Please don't worry about your depression...just see if you can do something about it. I'm glad that you posted because Shashi is pointing you in the right direction. Please call your doctor.

Check out the hormone jungle forum and the Post Op girls for more hints and tons of support.

Take care

it is truly no fun feeling like this..... it has stayed with me all day and I can not kick it.. I live in the netherlands and I am sure there is no tylenol pm here. I have noticed that they don't have a lot of things I am us to from the states.. When we were home for a visit in june I bought Ibprofen there and boy am I glad I did, I have used it alot since my surgery, I ask my mom to send me lots of things i miss from home.. I thank you for your responses. my doctor is on vacation but maybe I can find out from the nurses...

making your own Tylenol PM

HI Tina,

Do you have Benadryl in the Netherlands (or a generic form of diphenhydramine)? All Tylenol PM is is 500mg of Acetaminophen and 25mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride. If you have the Benadryl equivalent, you could take 25mg of that along with your ibuprofen and basically have the equivalent of a "PM" formula.

Anyway, I thought it was worth a shot . . .

Take care,
Vicki

Tylenol P.M.

Hi Tina,

If you can't get Tylenol P.M., you might see if you can get Benadryl. It's the ingredient in Tylenol P.M. and Excedrin P.M. that helps you sleep.

Other ideas (none of them worked for me, but maybe they will for you): warm milk (yuck!), hot baths if you been released to take baths, and no caffeine and no naps during the day.

I hope you get some sleep soon. And I hope your sadness turns to happiness soon too.

s,

Lisa
