Adhesions + Physical Therapy and/or Massage Therapy

For all my wonderful sisters who have been following the wild saga of my achy belly, I finally got in to see my second opinion guy. He thinks it's probably adhesions. He is NOT recommending surgery. He wants me to go to physical therapy. The gal he wants me to see is out on maternity leave. I did some hunting on the web and there is a place in Florida that specializes in treating adhesions with PT and massage therapy. Florida is waaaaaaaay too far for me. Anybody know anything in the South West? Can anybody share if they have tried this and if it works?

Adhesions + Physical Therapy and/or Massage Therapy

dbf,
I tried this about a year and a half ago and I couldnt withstand the pain of the manipulation of my pelvic area My insides are pretty much plastered together and it was a long shot for me but worth a try as I believe is any viable non-invasive option! I was recommended by several Specialists to not undergo anymore surgery unless it is life-threatening. The risks for me of further Nerve damage and Adhesions plus possibly making the pain worse far out weigh the nil chance of surgery helping me. Good Luck with this and hopefully it will provide you with some much needed relief Please keep us posted on your progress.....

Adhesions

At my one year post exam my GYN did a pelvic and pronounced me "matted" with adhesions! I thought, "What a pretty sight that must be"!

She also said that the only way they would ever open me up again was if I had an obstruction or was in debilitating pain.

I had a few painful "tugs" a few weeks ago. I got it into my mind that maybe there was something "preventative" I could do. So one of the PT's at the rehab place where I exercise (they have a Wellness program) suggested I call a therapist she knows who specializes in woman's issues and is supposedly well versed about adhesions.

I called this therapist and she explained that unless I was having pain on a consistent basis a visit to her may "stir things up". I guess she was referring to manipulation. I told her that if things got ugly I would call her. I'm not in pain right now.

Is there any "science" behind the theory that manipulating the area around adhesions helps break the adhesions up? Knowing how "angry" they can become, I wonder if it could have the opposite effect?
