type 1 diabetic

I had a TAH/BSO in April. Recovery pretty normal, swelly belly only leftover at this point.
My question tho, has anyone had trouble maintaining good blood sugar levels since surgery. I have been having real problems, my sugars range from over 400 to as low as 28. I am seeing my Dr almost weekly, we're trying all combinations.
I was hoping someone on here has had a similar situation. Is it because my metabolism has changed? Is it due to the changes in hormone's?
I take multi-vitamins, including chromium, not doing much as for HRT(latest news reports scared the ____ out of me), and I am on Humolog(sliding scale three times a day) and Lantas at bedtime.
I just found out last week I am at the beginning stages of retinopothy, have another appt this week with a specialist.
Between the "hyster", and all this, getting a little depressed and was hopeful one of you might have some information to share.
Thanks for all the great information to date from this site, I swear, half the Dr's out there should read it.

LOW BLOOD SUGAR

WOW. I am glad you asked that question. I am 5 weeks post op TVH. Kept the ovaries. Since the operation I have been to shaky and lightheaded and could pass out everytime I stand up. I read the symptoms for enemia and hypoglycemia. They are both almost Identical. My doctor said my blood was at a 13 when I left the hospital normal is between 12-18. Well I have never felt this tired, fatigued, shakey, trembly. So let me know what they find out. I bought some b-12 and c today and also some ensure to drink while i am at work. I eat good, I get plenty of rest. So let me know.

I am a type 2 Diabetic

Hi! I am almost 4 weeks post op from a LAVH, and I have found my BG levels to be stable and within the normal range. I am not taking any medications, and am newly diagnosed with Diabetes. I had been told to expect my BG levels to rise after surgery and during recovery, but (knock on wood) that hasn't happened. I know Type 1 is a lot different. There is a Diabetes chatroom through MSN. I haven't bookmarked it, but if you do a search, you will most likely find it. They have a lot of people who can answer questions about Type 1 and Type 2. Hang in there! We have been through a lot, and this stupid Diabetes makes it much harder.
