severe dysplasia

I'm new, but have been reading for about a month. So glad I found this site.

I went for my annual in April. Was scared about the 1st mammogram, didn't think twice about the pap. Well, mammogram was fine but Dr. called back and said we needed to do a biopsy for severe dysplasia. Did the biopsy, colposcopy and dr still did not like those results. He then wanted to do a cold knife cone(I wouldn't recommend this to anyone) After those results came back he highly recommended a hyst, but I had to heal up from the cone. Finally, it's almost here, Surgery is August 12.

My question is has anyone had a cone biopsy that caused them to have hot flashes and a definite change in body temperture? I am at least 10 degrees hotter than ever. DH loves it because I was always cold before(very cold natured)

Anyway, thanks for all the info and encouragement I have gotten just from reading all your stories. It's good to know I'm not alone.

DYSPLASIA

I TOO HAD SEVERE DYSPLASIA, THEY TRIED TO DO A LEEP OR LOOP IN THE OFFICE AND THAT WOULDN'T WORK. SO OFF TO THE CASTLE I WENT FOR A CONE BIOPSY. AT THAT TIME, DR. REMOVED PART OF MY CERVIX AND SCRAPED THE VAGINAL WALLS TO REMOVE ANY PRE-CANC. CELLS. THEN I HAD TO GO BACK FOR ANOTHER PAP IN 6 MOS. SAME THING AGAIN, AND I HAD A DUSTING & CLEANING (D&C) ALONG WITH IT. AFTER MY LAST PAP RESULTS, ALONG WITH HEAVY BLEEDING, ANEMIA AND EXTREME PAIN DURING MY TWO PERIODS A MONTH, THE DR. AND I DECLARED WAR ON THOSE PARTS THAT WERE NOT COOPERATING. I FINALLY HAD A TVH, KEPT MY OVARIES BECAUSE THEY WERE CLEAR. WAITING FOR PATHOLOGY REPORT AND SURGICAL REPORT I ORDERED FROM THE HOSPITAL. I DID HAVE HOT FLASHES QUITE A BIT, BUT I JUST FIGURED IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS PERIMENOPAUSAL. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY. THE ONLY THING THAT REALLY WAS PAINFUL WAS THE GAS. ASK FOR SOMETHING TO HELP MOVE THAT ALONG. AND IF YOU GET A PUMP FOR PAIN, THAT WILL SLOW EVERYTHING DOWN TOO. TRY TO GET PAIN MEDS ORALLY. DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS AND START MOVING AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

severe dysplasia

Thanks for the info. I am ready to get this over.

About the hot flashes, I am 40 and have never experienced any problems before the cone biopsy. I asked the nurse about it and she said it probably had nothing to do with the surgery. Just seems strange to me that I had never had hot flashes before and it certainly seems like they adjusted my thermostat while in there.

I guess it's all down hill after Monday.

Hi Mypee,

I've had two Cone Biopsies and didn't experience any hot flashes or changes after the procedures. Wishing you an uneventful hospitalization and recovery!
