Welcome!

Hi, Shortcake! Welcome to HysterSisters! Sorry to hear you have gone through so much pain with endo & bleeding, and that you will have to have a hyst. But you have come to the right place to get support and comfort and info. HysterSisters really helped calm my fears and prepare me for mine. It's wonderful you were able to have 3 babies, but I know it still is sad to lose some of our female parts--even if we really don't want any more babies.

Reading all you can here and asking any questions you have, will make you feel less scared and more in control of your health. Click on the princess in the left top corner and scroll down to find the pull-down menus for "Ladies in Waiting." There is all kinds of helpful hints and advice there. And you can go up to the right side to "search" and type in endometriosis or other topic, to read past threads about a subject you're interested in.

You might want to ask your dr to try to retain one or both ovaries if possible. Then you hopefully wouldn't have to go on HRT or worry about osteoporosis until natural menopause. If both ovaries are diseased, you should discuss with your dr about HRT vs other meds to prevent bone loss. The latest study on HRT really doesn't apply to us who go through surgical menopause and take only estrogen. Most drs say we probably can take estrogen until age 50, plus 5 years or so, and not increase our risk of breast cancer. Check out the Hormone Jungle here for topics on HRT (both the message board and the forum with journal articles) http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...threadid=67175

s and best wishes to you!
Ruthie
