My Castle Story

Well girls, it has been one week today. DH and I drove to the Great Castle at 7am, surgery was to begin at 9am. Went in to pre-op and had wonderful fleet enema and vaginal douche. Put on hose and booties and got in bed. A-man came in spoke with both of us, was really relaxed as I had him last year for hysteroscopy. Dr came in next and said they would take realy good care of me and not to worry. I wasn't. Got the versed next. Worked really quick, DH said I was telling the nurses to be sure and give me some "Ice Cream Flakes" when I got in recovery. lol! I don't remember anything else til I work up in recovery. Bladder spasms were the worst! Got lots of nice pain meds and they calmed down. Dr came in and said everything went great! he had to take right ovary and tube because of cyst and there was a fibroid tumor deeply imbedded in the uterus. Had LAVH by the way. Slept pretty much 1st day. Got catheter out next morning and went wee wee all by myself! YEAH!!! Walked around the halls several times and not much pain at all. Heating pad was my best friend! Was planning on going home Friday morning and the nurse came in and took blood pressure and blood count. Both were really low so off to Ultra-sound STAT! Had some internal bleeding but it had stopped thank goodness! They didn't have to give me any blood but almost! Kept me another day and pushed iron pills, did another blood test and it had come up so they let me go home Saturday. It has been 1 week today and I am feeling very good, really tired up til now because of the blood loss, but getting better every day. DH and DSs doing all the work and letting me rest. Would have been on my period this week, lol! HA! Don't regret it a bit! So, you pre-op girls stay positive and I will be praying for your recovery also!

My Castle Story

Sharibelle, So glad to hear you're doing so well. I am leaning toward LAVH also. I wonder if it's the easiest to recover from as the nurse at the dd office said. I have to have a pubo-sling also. So your comment about the bladder spasms scared me. How much do you feel like yourself? I'm getting very nervous. Please keep us updated about your recovery. There are many of us who are awaiting our visit to the castle.

My Castle Story

Hey Girls! Thanks for the encouragement! Jodi, the reason I had the bladder problem is that I have had 2 C-Sections and I had a LOT of scar tissue that had adhered to my bladder and had to be taken off in surgery. Also, I think they have to detach something from the bladder to get the uterus out. You probably won't have that problem so don't worry yourself over it, you will do fine! They have great meds that take care of it quik if you do. I do not regret it not one little bit! I am feeling GREAT today and every day gets better. I will check in often and you can e-mail me anytime!
