Ultrasound Results

Hi, just had another VA this week. Eventhough I knew I had a fibroid, this determined the exact location.(submucosal). Its only one inch, but its caused a lot of excessive bleeding for about two years. I'm on my period now, and its rough as ever. I have come to a decision. I'm going to have a TVH. I don't even want to try the embolization. For me, something just doesn't feel right about it. Anyway, just wanted to post this, and if anyone is going through the same heart wrenching process that goes into making this decision, my thoughts and prayers are with you. My doctor will be hearing from me soon..Ladies in waiting:add me to the list...

Oh, sounds like a good move to me. Remember I said that I had read it's those little ones that cause the pain! That embolization
scares me. And a TVH will be great. If you wait another year that little broid could be a baseball!

I'm happy for you that you've researched and come to a decision. I believe that is the hardest part. Please catch today's threat from awgirls. I hope everyone reads it.

My best to you

hi sparkling water!

I too have had excessive bleeding for two years before finding out on July 3 through a pelvic/vaginal ultrasound that I have one fibroid for sure that is already plum size. Yipee! I went for a consultation to the gyn., already having done research on everything and had it in my head that since I was finished having children, and with the problems that I am experiencing, I would prefer a hyst. also. In my doctors words, "are they gonna get bigger, yes. Are the problems you have going to get worse, probably. Can they come back, yes." I think out of obligation he needed to offer other options. The options he offered me was the embolization...not knocking anything, but it scares me to death. To me, I keep thinking what if those little plastic particles dislodge...besides, I would have to travel he said about 1 1/2-2 hrs. away for that. Not! Then he offered a thermal ablation to "cook" the lining of the uterus. I considered this. Then when I weighed the possibility that (from what I have researched) the lining can grow back, or if a small part is left, it can grow back, which opens up a window for another round of the same old, same old, I thought, no. I believe that the hyst will be the best for me. I think we get a gut feeling about what we want to do pretty much from the start. It is definitely good to weigh your options but I feel go with what is in your heart. To me, I see freedom. No periods, no telling my daughter I can't go on the Girl Scout retreat with her (because of my flooding periods), no pain, no problems. Sounds like a winner to me. Take care. Erica (esa)

To Esa:

Hi, Esa, just read you post -sounds like you're going through the same thing. I've been having this problem way too long. around 2 to 3 years. Like you, I am finished having children. Embolization does not appeal to me either. I have to consult with my doctor about my decision. Hopefullysurgery won't be too far away-fibroids can be so confining, as well as painful, you never know when the flow will just happen. So happy you posted.. You are right about that gut feeling, sparklingwater (Linda)
