Encouragement for lovely Pre ladies!
Well, almost 3 months down the road, life is wonderful!
At first it was tough, then it got better, then it got rough... Rather like going through road construction in downtown Denver right now! Life is like road construction I guess
So 3 months later, I have my sanity. I have energy. I am able to go camping and on motorcycle rides without having to take the suitcase (literally!) of pads and tampons along (imagine the saddlebag load, oh dear that was bad!). I have a LIFE now, which is something that I've never been able to have before. I'm not running to the bathroom every 5 minutes with the infamous floods, and I actually own white underwear, jeans, and lingerie now. Heck, I can actually WEAR lingerie now!!!
This coming Sunday is my first wedding anniversary it's going to be better than my wedding night (alas, a horror story) and DH is looking forward to it as much as I am. We're calling this our honeymoon since we couldn't take one when we got married (thank you, floods).
I wish you all the best luck, it truly is wonderful being a !

Encouragement for lovely Pre ladies!
I am 3 months out from a TAH/BSO and would like to also add to the encouragment for the pre-op ladies.
I have my life back as well as my energy level is overall about 95 percent back. I still have some bad days and occasionally get unusually tired and wonder why I would be tired and think "Oh, yea, I had surgery". There are more and more days that I feel like my old self (actually better since I got rid of the load of fibroids I was carrying).
I guess the one thing to remember is your not going to wake up one day and feel normal - it's a slow process with good and bad days and the bad days get fewer as time goes on.
It was worth it! And an added bonus is the weight loss and flatter tummy. Now I have more energy and am lighter on my feet to exercise more often.

GoodnightGracie,
I see your in the Seattle area. Where are you having your surgery? As for the weight loss - It was from the 5 pound uterus to start and I havn't had much of an appitite (not the usual) since the surgery.

Lamb - I hope my uterus isn't 5 pounds but if it is I'll be thrilled to be rid of it! You referred to your flatter tummy - does that mean no "swelly belly"? Cool! Glad you are doing well.
I am not actually having my surgery in any of the fine, better known facilities in Seattle (Swedish, UW, etc) but rather in Renton at Valley Medical where my DR does her thing. I had ER surgery there a couple of years ago (ruptured ectopic) and all went well so I feel very comfortable with the set up. Close to home (for DH and friends) and outstanding personal attention.
Thanks for the uplifting message. I can live with most of the other post-op stuff (as I have done for 2 prior surgeries) but the thought of adding weight on top of turning 40 and losing my female organs is excessive. It's already hard enough to feel attractive.
Keep speeding down that recovery road!

Encouragement for lovely Pre ladies!
GoodnightGracie,
I had mine at Evergreen. I had a good experience there and the care was very good and close to home. I had never been hospitalized there and was a little leary of the smaller community hospital. My friend had her myomectomy at Virginia Mason and was not happy with the care there, so bigger is not necessarily better.
Yes, I did have a little swelly belly and still do, but it's going down every month.
I know that turning 40 is hard enough (I'm 44) without having to deal with a hyst., but you will feel better afterward. Losing my parts doesn't bother me, but it was a hard disicion on whether to keep my ovaries because I didn't really want to go into surg. menopause at my age, but as it turn out they were full of cysts anyway so I'm glad they are gone and not have to worry about it.
The first couple of weeks after is the roughest, then things get better and your strength gradually returns.
Wish you the best of luck with your surgery!!

Encouragement for lovely Pre ladies!
Every so often I start breathing a bit heavy with anxiety about my scheduled TAH/BSO (Aug 15) so I check in here and I get to feeling a bit better.
It isn't so much the surgery or recovery that weighs so heavy on my mind but my ability to still look and feel desirable. In the last two years a wonderful man entered into my life and things have never been so good. He is patient and kind, but I suppose it is more about how I will be feeling than him.
Thanks so much for all of these encouraging posts I keep reading. Oh, I am from the state of Washington, too!

All of your messages are so encouraging! I go next week and I am ready to get it over with. I know I won't be feeling great right away, but recovery is just over the hill.
This web site has been such a God send. Thanks for sharing.
