Where is Patch?

For 6 weeks Patch "Esclim" has stuck right with me. On several occations recently Patch has abandoned me and dropped off into lands unknown. I am so weepy when Patch leaves. Anybody have any ideas how I can control Patch's wanderings? I want Patch to be as attached to me as I am to it.

Think this might help? My dearly departed Patch. Please do not leave me. I have paid a price for you. I have boasted about your wonderful help. You are important to me. Please stick with me. And if you do not stick around then guess I will just have to replace you with another.

Weird thing is nothing seems to stick to me right now. I tried putting tape over Patch and it even fell off. I tried cleaning the area with alcohol to remove any oil. That did not work. So I am turning to you hoping a little humor may brighten your day and you may have some solution for me.

Where is Patch?

Shirley,

i was in the middle of one of my few weepy episodes when i read youre gloriously funny post. Thank you for giving me a smile today You didnt say what kind of patch youre on, but i've heard some stick better than others...i think its the 'climara' (not sure if right spelling/word) that sticks the least well of all. I've tried estraderm and vivelle dot, and the vivelle dot is by far the most 'loyal' patch of all.....it wont leave you as often as others. I liked estraderm, but it occasionly went wandering or 'hanging loose' sometimes....i hope you can find one that 'sticks around' Lots of luck and thanks again for the smiles!

Where is Patch?

Hi Shirley

I'm so glad to see that even when you lose your patch you don't lose your sense of humor!

I've found, as Mina says, that the Vivelle dot has been the most loyal for me.

I have one other suggestion you could try if you want to give your wandering Esclim one more chance. You could put a large band-aid over it to hold it in place. Some kinds work better than others. I've had the best success with Nexcare Waterproof, it's stayed on through several showers and swims for me. Just make sure that when you put it on, you press all the edges down all the way around. You'd probably have to use the big knee and elbow size... not very attractive, I know... I prefer my inconspicuous and loyal Vivelle.

One other thing. If even band-aids aren't sticking, and you're cleaning the area with alcohol first, it would seem that perhaps your skin is producing a lot of oils of its own. Are you noticing your skin is oilier than before? If that's the case it could be a sign that your patch dosage needs to be changed, and you might want to talk with your DR about that and any other symptoms you might be having.

Good luck and keep that great sense of humor!

Where is Patch?

Thanks Linda and Mina,
I like the idea of smothering my wandering Esclim under the protective care of a huge bandaid. If Esclim does not want to be my closest friend then I plan to beg for a new prescription for Vivelle Dot. I have noticed from many postings it is the most highly recommended patch on this site. (I wonder if saying that will make Esclim jealous)
I have dry skin. I only tried the alcohol because someone told me it helped her patch stick better. My brain fog is worse. Night sweats on occation but not regular. Sleep pitiful. As for hot flashes not that I am aware of but .... I did get dressed to go to the Dr last week and put on a dress with a T-shirt underneath and the next thing I knew I had on a light summer dress. Dr says when I get back in the grind of work and into my work clothes we might want to check on dosage.
8/12 is the first inservice day. 8/19 is the first student day. I think I will let myself get a routine going then if I want or need to make changes in patches I will be more familiar how I am doing in my work environment.

Thank you for your replies!

Where is Patch?

I have to say that Dot and I have gotten to be very good friends. Unlike so many, Dot has stood by me, never wavering! She has been glued to my side through showers and swims. Never once has she left me in my time of need.

Although my pharmacy has tried to introduce me to a new friend, and take my dear Dot away (they sent the regular vivelle and not the dot!!!! I plan to beg and cry to them to please send my dot back to me!!!

Feeling good on vivelle .1mg

Dot

Sisters,
I changed my dear Dot for the first time today and felt like a layer of skin went with her! No trouble with her leaving! Any tips on how to get the ugly glue line she leaves behind?

Where is Patch?

Hi WebDeb ,

Since time immemorial (well OK maybe not that long) sisters have pondered the very question you ask: how to remove the gunky ring my patch leaves behind?

There have been many, many threads on this subject, and if you do a search on Vivelle dot residue or something like that you will come up with lots of tips.

What has worked for me is using rubbing alcohol. That might irritate if you have very dry skin. I have also tried Goo-Gone (yes there is such a product, it's made with orange oil) and it works nicely but somehow the idea of using a product invented to clean automotive parts and get price tags off glass doesn't appeal to me. I believe I've also heard that olive oil would work but I haven't tried that. Let us know what works best for you!

Thank you Thank you Thank you

I had to take hold for that belly laugh! Just yesterday my dear pharmacist and I had to have a talk about Patch. Dear Generic Patch doesn't seem to like me either, so I'm giving Ms. Climara Patch a try. If she leaves me crying in the wind, I am calling My Knight and asking him for Dot Patch. (My Pharmacist has ageed to order it just for me.) Perhaps she will stick closer than a brother for me! BLessings and thank you so much for the laugh! Love, Janet

Where is Patch?

Hi
I also had trouble with that sticky residue from my Vivelle Dot patch. Someone in a post a couple of weeks ago suggested Pond's cold cream. She said to take off the patch before showering, and then put on a layer of cold cream on the residue and let it sit for a bit. Then, use a warm wet washcloth to wipe it off. This works great for me.
