Starting to cry

Hi Mary

Many sisters have experienced crying early in their recovery period after a hysterectomy. There can be lots of reasons for this. One is residual effects of the anesthesia leaving your system. Another is that, let's face it, this is an emotional surgery, moreso for some of us than for others. A very likely reason is the wild hormonal fluctuations that happen after the surgery. I don't know whether you still have your ovaries or not, but I am guessing they were removed because you say you're on HRT. If that's the case, it takes a while for your body to reach steady hormone levels after it's gone through such a shock. It may be also that you'll find your dosage needs to be adjusted. And if you still have your ovaries, they often shut down right after surgery anyway and it may take a while for them to "wake up" again. You may want to speak with your DR tomorrow about this... he/she should know that you are having this trouble. There may be something that can be done to help while you wait out this storm. Meanwhile, I'm glad you found us, you're definitely not alone here!

s,
-Linda

Starting to cry

I did the same thing you are doing. I did not start on hrt until week two. about one week later, I had a 3 or 4 day period of just feeling like all I wanted to do was cry. I didn't get dressed for 4 days. Finally, I went looking in the hormone jungle. I noticed on one of the pull down menus that they talked about ladies on hrt needing vitamin supplements. So I got dressed and went the drug store and bought a Vit B complex and a good womens multi vit. By the next day I was feeling much better. (ok, I was starting to feel better before I went to the store, but i think the vits helped)

Hope you are feeling much better very soon. If not, talk to your Dr about possibly changing your hrt. You might also visit the hormone jungle for more info on hrt.

Good luck

Starting to cry

Hey Mary,

I too had that feeling a couple days ago. Mostly I feel frustrated because I cannot do what I want to do. I was taking mega B doses prior to surgery, but right now I'm just taking ferrous sulfate. It's strictly iron. I can tell a difference in my energy and emotional level when I take it vs when I forget ! I also plan to resume the Mega B doses soon.
