oily skin and scalp

I started using the Climara patch 4 months ago and noticed that my skin and scalp have become increasingly oily. Has anyone else had this problem with the estrogen patch? I didn't have this problem while on premarin. I switched to the patch hoping it would help my migraines - it hasn't - migraines still the same.

oily skin and scalp

Ni Nickey,

I don't remember anyone mentioning oily skin and scalp as relating to what form of estrogen you use, but it's possible your estrogen level is too high. I have also heard of oily skin and scalp (and acne too) as symptoms of too much testosterone. Have you considered getting your hormone levels checked?

oily skin and scalp

Estrogen causes headaches for some. I had migraines for the first month or so. I also have oily skin and scalp. I don't know if it's the estrogen, or not. Some women complain of hair loss, where my hair seems to be getting thicker. My fingernails have grown long and strong. Well, it does save me money from having acrylic nails put on! The down side is I've gained even more weight! Oh well, can't win them all! LOL

Oily-er after HRT

Hi Gals!

I'm almost 4 weeks post-op. My skin has always been somewhat oily, but after 2 weeks on the .1 strength patch, it was horribly oily! I read here that dry skin is a sign of lack of estrogen...so it seemed logical that oily might be too much. So I've been on the .05 patch instead now for two weeks, and my skin and scalp are back to normal and I'm still not having any hot flashes. I'm only 31 years old so my doc originally thought I might need the higher dose. We'll see if it changes when my body finishes burning up the stored estrogen that my ovaries left behind in my fat.

Now if the 7 lb water retention would just go away!

Hope this helps,
Songsister

I too have oily skin normally but i dont notice any difference except that my hair doesnt seem to get as oily as fast.
I am on the .1 vivelle dot. I really like it because i dont get any meno symptoms at all and i seem to sleep pretty good.
