Had My Hyst. On July 8th

I just wanted to let all know my hysterectomy went really well, 6 weeks ago. Honostly, the first week was hell, and I was pretty drugged up, but week 2 I went back to college and started doing muchh better. People told me I wasn't going to be able to walk for long time and not be able to do alot but I handled it much better than probably most. Im a single mother of four so I had to get better and had to go college so I wouldn't fail. Here it is, 6 weeks post-op now and honostly I feel much better than before surgery. I don't really feel that sore either. Good luck to you'all that have to have one, I think you will feel much better than you think. God bless!

OOPS FORGOT...

forgot to say that I was only 31..young to have this. Left one ovary. I had to have surgery cuz of 4 c-sections caused me to have adenomyosis, lining of uterus growing into muscle. Atleast with my one ovary I won't hopefully go into menopause early. My r ovary was full of cysts.

I am glad your surgery went well and you are recovering nicely. Keep in mind that the initial recovery is 6-8 weeks but it can take up to a year to be fully recovered. Try to rest when you can. Find small periods of "quiet time" and relax and pamper yourself.

I congratulate you on pursuing your college education! Good for you!

right behind you

I had my TAH/BSO on July 11th. I also had a tummy tuck, but still have the swelly belly above my belly button. I am feeling pretty good now,,,,,,,,,after being in so much pain before the surgery, this actually feels great!! I am taking only 1mg of Estradol and have not had a hot flash or anything!! My doc wants me to wait until 8 weeks to have sex and go back to the gym, even then, I can only to cardio. All in all, my hyst was a lifesaver, along with all of the wonderful women on this site!!

Nice to hear how others are doing...my surgery was July 12, TAH/BSO. My 5 week check-up was Friday & I'm doing fine...I can go back to gym next week...taking it slowly.

Still get tired & sore...like after playing miniature golf this weekend when I (finally) calculated that 18 holes meant a minimum of 36 "bends" ...ouch!!! I had someone else pick up the ball, had the worse score and lots of fun.

Unemployed (downsized & out in the spring), kids are grown, so I can only empathize...but am working on grad degree & now feeling that my brain can actually function to work on post-poned papers.
