Wierd Peeling Hands.............
I haven't seen this mentioned, so let me be the first. Have any of you had your hands, fingers (or elsewhere!) peel as a result of meds or maybe HRT? My chiro said it was a result of some meds working their way out of my system, or maybe from the patch. So-I'm throwing this out for feedback.....am I the only one? Other than that, I am having an uncomplicated recovery, thankfully, lots of resting, have a wonderful DH who's doing everything. I do find that about one errand a day, or Dr. visit, is enough & I need a nap afterwards, but that's normal. Hope you are all coming along too!

Wierd Peeling Hands.............
Hi, just sitting here killing time waiting for my cramps to ease up so that I can join the living again. I did a search on "peeling" and found that alot of sisters have the same thing. I didn't read any solutions...but I only ready about 7 threads. Seems they are considering everything from the hormones to drug reactions to oxygen as the culprit. Just use the purple search button. Sorry, I have no answers for you. Perhaps you could send one of them a personal message to see if their skin ever stopped peeling!!! Or you could post over the hormone forum incase it is caused from your patch.
Good luck!

Peeling skin
My skin on my fingers did start to peel at about 4 weeks post op, it has stopped peeling now, but does feel funny, kind of numb to touch.
I doubt it is from HRT as I don't take any, still have one ovary left, when I saw my Gyny he said it was from Fluid! Can't fathom that out as the only fluid I seem to have is in my swelly belly.
Just so long as it goes and doesn't come back.
Hope yours goes soon,

The Peeling Thing......
Thank you for your responses...I will research further, just out of curiosity. It seems to have calmed down a little, so that's good. You Sisters are the best!!!!! (It's probably from meds, not the patch)

It may be a vitamin deficiency.
My son has Cystic Fibrosis and he has trouble with his hands peeling very severly and I am pretty sure his doctors said it is from a vitamin deficiency. Anyway they prescribed a cream called desonide cream which did the trick.
Hope this helps some.

Peeling Hands........
Pam, that is an interesting avenue to explore...do the Dr.s have any idea WHICH vitamin causes the peeling? Thanks for your reply!

peeling fingers
Had surgery 8-7-02 and just noticed yesterday (while trying on
rings) at the jewelry counter that I had peeling going on around
my fingers, too. I haven't been doing any heavy duty cleaning
or using anything caustic to cause it, so, it was really interesting to see that someone else was noticing that symptom also. Thank
goodness some one else is and I am not just plain falling apart!
Other than the peeling, I am somewhat more tired now than
when I had just had surgery, so it must be all left overs that are
showing up. I didn't tolerate the pain meds too well (morphine
made me flip my fruit juices at them) and the codeine is not something I like either. So, it must be the drugs evacuating the
"premises"- just a guess! After fibroids and all the mutiple periods
I had the "delight" to experience, I consider this a minor inconvienience (sp?). Good luck Groovyrena- you have a pal in
peeling.
Love Tbird
