Dry Eyes/no HRT

For the last week I have been having very dry eyes when I wake up. I know this is just another thing from lack of estrogen. I got "Refresh" liquid tears and they are OK, I guess. What do other people, who don't do HRT, do for dry eyes?

Love,
Maggie

Dry Eyes/no HRT

Maggie:

It turns out that dry eyes was something that drove me into a very low dose of estrogen.

I tried the Liquitears gel and had a reaction to it...it turns out that iI'm allergic to all the products, and even saline didn't work.

With just a very low dose of Vivelle, my tears came back. I don't know about your reasons for no estrogen at all, but if estrogen is absolutely NOT an option, talk with your optometrist. Mine told me about some procedure they can do to try to stimulate tear production.

My particular vote was for the estrogen, but then I was able to have a choice, and I went for the lowest possible dose.

If you do go to the optometrist or opthalmologist, would you please come back and let us know what the recommendations were? This is starting to turn up as a repeating theme for many of us, and I know we would like to find some long-term, estrogen-free relief.

Good luck...

Audrey

Hi Maggie sweetie

I suffer with the dry eyes also and use natural tears 4 times a day........It really seems to help as long as I keep using it....Somedays I feel dryer then others,But I also have sjogerns synd and that couses dry eyes as well......

Good idea to get checked out to be safe and try to use the drops more times daily.........
